Help Gearbox/clutch problems

I have a problem with my gearbox/clutch. The clutch won't disengage so it crunches when you select 1st and you have to double clutch to change gear on the move. The problem is getting worse. I have checked the slave cylinder travel and thats ok
I am resigned to pulling the gearbox but any sugestions would be welcome. I am thinking along the lines of a worn link between slave and thrust bearing. Clutch, pressure plate and thrust bearing are less than 4000 miles old

Re: Gearbox/clutch problems

It might be a weeping slave cylinder.........losing fluid behind the seal and not letting the arm move far enough to give you clearence

Try bleeding the slave cylinder or stick a nut between the rod and the piston in the slave cylinder and see what happens as this will give you more travel to get more clearence seen as you say the clutch is`nt very old

I have checked the travel and its correct to the manual and it stays out if the pedal is kept to the floor, I have also bled the system just in case.
Another suggestion is the gearbox shaft is binding in the bushing on the end of the crank so that the shaft still turns when the clutch is engaged

Re: Gearbox/clutch problems

It could be especially if its a brass bush..................Have you tried operating the clutch fork manually ie with a long lever and then getting someone to try putting it into gear
