It seemed like a good idea to me, the Wife can cure all his ailments, while I make sure his car is safe......what's wrong with that??

I think I've seen this car or one so similar at various test and track days, it goes like stink and I like the colour, but colour is oh so personal.

I have the trumpets on my car (there are photos on an earlier posting in this thread). They look and sound the business, even when wearing their foam socks.

Don't know if they make any difference in the oomph department, but I do know that you can forget any chit-chat when the right foot is planted. The induction noise dominates the cabin, well above the sound of the exhaust. It's been especially noticeable since the hi-lift cams were fitted.

Re: Cost of 105 GTV

Hi All

Update on the Junior for those interested (if anyone is!)

The box of goodies arrived yesterday (see above post) and they look good ...............however I decieded to remove the seats and carpets just to see how bad the floors are....................you guessed they are crap....so I have decieded I need to replace the floors and sills before I do anything else......I have located man who is a top welder here in west yorkshire, however this is going to be an expensive exercise.......

labour to fit 3 piece sills and floors £1000-£1500 depending what else he finds

Parts......sills and floors from specialist approx £1000

£2500 for floors and sills!!!!!!!!! Ridiculous.

Dont understand why I can buy floors for a triumph herald for £60 a side (alfa £200) there both metal, of similar complexity, whats the difference??

Anyway rant over, Im hoping to find someone to carry out the job a bit cheaper.we will see.

Matt

Re: Cost of 105 GTV

Sounds like a bit of a Blow Matt, do all the floors need to come out then?, not patchable?.
3 sections of Cill sounds like a bugger but there isn't much you can do about that I suppose.

Alfa bits have and allways will be pricey I suppose. Where have you got the Panel prices from BTW?.

Hi Ian

I could get away with patching a bit of the floor up, but would still need minimum of 3 sections so may as well have all 4!!
I have got the prices from EB Spares and a couple of the other well known specialists, EB seem a touch cheaper, but the floorpan rears are on back order! with a bit of a waiting list!

I need a drink!

Re: Cost of 105 GTV

Matt,

I bought the front floor section for around £100 from a supplier. The metal and Paint ie outer and middle cill and some gusset's for jacking point, cost around £100 as the garage made them, as I said above he does alot of work on exotic machines too. labour was £325 so with vat it came to £499.37 (Remember this was only one side and only the front floor on that side) my other side had cost over £925 labour and £400 parts but included door frames and all 3 cills and was done by another garage before my ownership.

One problem with Brian at Rydal, is he'll never give you an exact price before he starts the work, his reason being that until he starts removing paint and metal he doesn't know how much there work here'll be so he won't rip you or himself off. Don't think he's ripped me off on 3 or 4 occasions I've used him though.

Hope this helps

Nick

Re: Cost of 105 GTV

Thanks for replies all.I have made a decision..........I am going to relist the car on ebay and sell it.............I am now looking for ideally a 105 series sedan (super or ti) without rust, or a coupe..obviously I have all my goodies here waiting to be put on, so sooner the better.

If anyone knows of anything please let me know.

Matt

Re: Cost of 105 GTV

Blimey!

That's quite a decision!

Keep an eye out on http://www.classicalfa.com/cars.htm and http://www.************/classifieds/ . Veloce Sport had a saloon in, but it was LHD.

Remember though, unless you buy a car which has been completely bottomed, there will always be bits which need doing....

Re: Cost of 105 GTV

Sorry to here that Matt, I hope you get back what you paid, will you make bidders aware of it's hidden treasure?.

Must be tempting not too, but I are'nt sure if I could live with myself.....

Good luck with the future search, from what I have seen, the Berlina's tend to be cheaper, for Cars in equivelent condition.

Re: Cost of 105 GTV

Hi all ..Yes Im a bit gutted actually...will reveal the floor and sills need work on ebay as I have removed carpets so all can be seen.the floors and sills will bodge up (ie patch) for the MOT and that can be done for about £100, however I cant do with that personally..........
I have rung a guy who has a car for sale on www.findit.co.uk however he has sold it today, looked a good buy from what he said (no rust at all) £4500.........but I really like the look of the saloon so I think i will go that way...........but that said id have another coupe.

So unless you like welding, dont bid on my Gt J! although Im confident I should get my money back!!

Matt
