Rushed up the road to Berties garage checked the levels, got in, pump the accelerator and turned the key and .......... NOTHING, not even enough juice to move the wipers. Re: Cost of 105 GTV
I'd by one myself but, as its a neighbours garage who won't allow me to pay towards using it, a battery charger draped halfway around the place (if he even has a plug) would be a bit brassy. I charged the Battery the 1st week in December overnight, and have only used the car once around 6 weeks ago, do you think it may need a new battery? ( there are no lights clocks etc to drain the battery)

Re: Cost of 105 GTV
Doesn't sound great does it??
It should last longer than that if there are NO drains at all.
But it has been very cold and damp recently!
Worth taking the earth cable off next time just to see??

Agreed. One circuit for the front, one for the back.
On left hookers, both circuits are actuated by a single combined master cylinder and servo unit (and the pedals are hinged under the dash). On right hookers, there was no room above the carbs for the single master cyl/servo, so two master cylinders were put UNDER the floor, meaning that two boosters were needed (one for each circuit) and the pedals had to come up through the floor. Cue a wet road, cue water splashing into the car and around the master cylinders and .... you've guessed the rest. You wont see many (original) RHD Giulia coupes that are not rusted to buggery around the pedals.

I've just had a new drivers floor put in as the original had been repaired that often around that area. Any Tips for keeping rust free for a while?

Do you think he would knock 33 grand off it because I'm a nice chap?
And if the fapping image tags were turned on we'd be able to see the lovely thing.

Re: Cost of 105 GTV
Hi
Thanks for the welcome...............the car was originally in the north east and I think the bodywork was from the chap you mention.........Ive stripped the brakes down today, both front calpers badly seized up, so I have ordered a pair of recons from Richard Banks
Ive decieded I am going to run the car in its present cosmetic condition this summer, patch the floors up where needed and get it through an MOT......but Im going to put all the fun bits on now...........I was thinking of
Richard Banks Springs and Front Anti Rollbar (lowers the car by 2 and a bit inches im told)
Koni Sport Shocks all round
Set of those fab looking carb trumpets
Remove rear anti roll bar
Rebush where needed/ new bottom ball joints.
Thats the plan as of now............any advice welcome, new to Alfa Romeos (105s anyway)...so Id like to know others opinion of optimum setups for fast road/ track use.
Cheers
Matt

Re: Cost of 105 GTV
Sounds very familiar. I can't remember where my springs/front roll bar came from, but otherwise, you've pretty much described the setup on my car.
If you need to stop, braided hoses, a good fluid and (eventually) 2000 calipers/discs would be a wise investment and when you're finished playing with the suspension, make sure that you get the geometry checked out.

Hi Rick
Thanks for the welcome...............yes thats the car!!!
I have done the deed and oredered the followinf from Richard Banks this morning
4x Koni Sports adjustable
1 X Lowering spring kit and thicker anti roll bar
4 X New brake discs
1 x set of fast road ferrodo pads for the front
1 x standard set for the rear
1 x complete set of bushes/arms etc
2 x recon brake calipers for the front.
My credit card is smoking!!!!
I am doing this car the wrong way round really..................it could do with new sills and floors to make it 100%(and a repaint) but Im doing the mechanicals/suspension first and then at the end of the summer I will get new floors and sills put in..(the floors and sills are heavily patched with past repairs, which I will add to to get it through its MOT).
Does anyone know the approx cost of having new sills and floors fitted??
Also I want to replace the seats but dont like the look of GTA seats......I fancy some wrap round seats with harness holes, anybody reccomend any(I am of generous build)
The big parcel will arrive in the morning and I cant wait to skin my knuckles and swear!!
Regards
Matt

The RS4 is the recommended one for the 105.

If you can't get any joy ringing Bob Ridgard direct, contact Simon Whiting at Gran Turismo Engineering 020 8332 7633, as he deals with him.

Re: Cost of 105 GTV
Matt
While you are crawling around underneath, check the condition of the Chassis rails, the ones coming from the front, welded to the cross members under the front seats. Also the cross member itself.
If the floors are a bit dodgy, there is a good chance these bits are as well.
When you are looking at outer sills make sure you get the correct ones with the jacking points in. Mine has the correct ones on one side but some of the continous ones on the other. These became available before the correct type did, and mine was partly restored during that period.
The duff ones don't seem to have a jacking point, and I am still trying to figure out where to jack it...
Just an opinion of course, but I would sort your body/Chassis before adding the fun bits. You don't want to find yourself in the ditch because something broke....
Also it is probably a good idea to get a feel for the Car as it was before you tweeked it, that way you know what you have achieved when you do. Thats my theory anyway
If you do change your mind, send the bits on to me, I can look after them for you....
