Thanks guys. It's a great little car, not much genuine interest yet either so maybe I will just keep it ;-) Got a drive coming up in the summer in Europe which would suit it brilliantly too.
Stu GTV - I was actually thinking of replacing with a 3.0 GTV as these are fine cars and I should have some cash left over. But there is a frightening thread on the GTV forum about rust - should I be worried and avoid GTVs? Even my Spider S4 hasn't got any rust to speak of.
Anglospider - the exhaust is stainless steel and custom fitted by the previous owner by Power Speed IIRC. The box end has Magnaflow embossed underneath. The cat has been removed but I don't think the engine management system has been changed. Apparently removing the cat releases a few more horses, and my Spider is fast (faster than some others I've been told). The exhaust makes a nice burble but isn't too loud like a boy racer, and it is quiet when cruising on long journeys - and it certainly doesn't drown out the glorious nord engine when pushing on. In my opinion it's nice if a classic car gives a nice throaty burble. Lots of modern cars hardly make any noise, I'm guessing due to Directives about noise emissions at idle etc.
