Chilling Hello I ve a spider since...

Hello eveybody,

I am back in this forum as a very pround owner of a 1973 alfa spider 2000 red.

The MG went quite easely, and so was buying a spider.

I ve just discover a whole new world, gosh what a car. I bought it last week monday, but I kept quiet in order to evaluate this baby.

The engine was mounted with two K&N air filter, the sound of it was fantastic but I had a lot of prob at low RPM. The previous owner obviously did not change the carb setting. So for now I ve installed back the original air filter, much much better and quieter too. The breaks were weack so I have use a repair kit for the 2 servo, it's now a bit better but the master cylinder feels a bit tired too. The clutch master cylinder have a little leack so both master cylinder will be change soon. The steering wheel is a bit loose, need to give a closer look at that. So far no overheating, no funny noise from the engine, a bit the petrol smell so the repair kit for the dellorto plus new piping for the fuel line is on the list. Let me see what else, oh yeah the fuel gage doesn't work, feel quite familiar my MG had the same prob.

I have a stupid question that will make you smile, the petrol consumption. I was expecting something like 13 liter / 100 km, but after a week the average falls to under 11 liter. Can you tell me what's your consumption please. Euh I do enjoye a nice 5/6000 rpm once in a while, I do use happily the 5 th gear.

ladies & gentleman, you have no idea how glade I am to join your forum. I look forward great discustion and some good tips.

Cheers

Andre

Re: Hello I ve a spider since...

Hello,

Well don't get me wrong, I don't really care about the cost otherwise I would be driving an hybrid plastic car

But I have two good reasons to watch it, first my fuel indicator doesn't work and I hate running dry, then I use this as an indicator on how well (or not) the dellorto are tunned.

Cheers

Andre
