i'll try to make this short and sweet. I need help please?
1.) 2 months ago the little one struggled to start and idle one evening, after checking all i found a bite mark on the little wire running from the coil to the distributor, after insulating it and 3 or 4 start tries she started and ran perfect. Same issue as i have now, the only thing is all wires is fine now.
2.) I fiddled with the timing chain to see if it was tight, mecanic told me what i should do, in the meen time its not what i was suppose to do and the chain skipped links, after getting hold of an mecanic that knows how to do it i set the two cams perfectly and after that she ran and sounded better than ever.
3.) the one break boosters diafram leaks and i'm struggling to find one so i cut the rear breaks of, so if the break fluid holder is to fuel the engine sucks the break fluid and then she smokes a little, this a macanic helped me to do and it worked..... but one of the pipes is a bit old and looks like might have a hole in, if that can maby be why she is doing it, let me know please?
two months passed after setting the cams and she gave no issues, i've been driving her for a year and she never gave issues, suddenly one morning it sounded like she had two plugs that died or a lack of fuel but went away after a few mins of driving. Then she would just die for no reason when i stop at a stop street or robot.This was an on and off thing at that time. 2 weeks later and she just died, she started, idled and all of a sudden it sounded like a plug died and then not far from there the engine would die and she wont start. Then one morning i got her started and drove around as if there was nothing wrong, drove like a dream, about 20 mins of driving and she started jiggering as if a plug or two is dead or she isnt getting fuel..... and then she died and didnt want to start. i got someone to pull me and tried to start her that way, she starts but dies 5 seconds later...... So sometimes she starts and sometimes not, sometimes she would idle perfect and all of a sudden it would sound like theres spark plugs dead or she aint gettin fuel and just dies or struggles to run, sounding like she is running on 2 cylinders.......
1.) I checked the fuel filter and found allot of rust and, dont ask me how it got in there but almost half the little filter full of water. I cleaned the filter and the pipe that runs from the tank to the carbs. I checked the tank for water and there was nothing, still she wouldnt start.
2.) I opened the carbs to see if its level was good (it is) and saw a small amount of water at the bottom, dried it out, cleaned the complete carbs with carb cleaner (was very dirty) and still no luck.
3.) I took the plug wires off and rebuild them at the points, cleaned the distributor, got a new distributor contact point and condensor. Still nothing.
4.) I took all the spark plugs off one by one and held them to the body and thay all spark.
5.) i checked if the cams was aligned and they were all good.
all i have to do now is buy a new coil but as i'm a student, money is a bit scares so i would like to just fix the issue and then as time goes by, buy a new coil and wires and so on.
Now tonight i started her, she idled good, lotsa smoke cause of the break fluid issue but she ran nicely, then all of a sidden it sounded like there was a plug dead, then she struggled even more and died, after that it sounds like she wants to start but nothing. I opened the carbs and the level was fine, checked the spark plugs and just the one looked slighty wet but sparked when i kept it close to the body....
now i asked a few macanics and they all had a diff story what it could be, the one said its the timing chain, 2 of them said it sounded electrical, one said it can be the condensor and the other said maybe the coil.... most said it sounds electrical sooooo...... the engine gets fuel.... the sparks is there....... can be one of 4 things, 1. water mixed in the fuel 2. the coil 3. the carbs 4. the plugs...... but i checked all and its fine......
If someone can tell me what else to try except drop a match in the fuel tank by accedent please help. I walk 10km's a day in rainy weather to work and its not the best way to spend an hour each morning and each evening..... i miss my little monster. Tell me what to try and i'll do so...... i dont even want a macanic close to that car after what they told me and would like to fix it with the help of you guy's, i'm not a pro with an engine my i do have allot of knoladge......
