Any simple fix for a series 4 spider slipping out of reverse gear?
Any help appreciated!

Re: Spider - losing reverse

Most of the time, a misaligned console/shift boot will cause the trans to pop out of gear. After removing the console, does it still pop out of reverse?

Re: Spider - losing reverse

Mine did that - then 2nd gear synchro went - needed a gearbox rebuild.

Yup and me, only 2nd synchro first then slipping out of reverse. It's either worn selector fork and/or worn gears. Box out job I'm afraid.
Get in touch with Charlie Skinner at Cloverleaf transmissions Cumbria, he's the best there is for 105 transmission. £350.00 or there abouts for a rebuild if you get it out, take it too him and collect it again.

Yes, I've seen worn reverse forks cause reverse pop out. However, try an aspirin before resorting to brain surgery.

Re: Spider - losing reverse

That's it I have to give up. I am having problems with reverse and first.
I can't engage them without crunching.

I have recently had the gearbox repaired, and a new three piece clutch installed, but I have this issue. I was told by the guys who but the gearbox back in that it could well be that the clutch would need to be bled, after all it was been tugged around abit.

So today, instead of enjoying the sunny weather, possibly the only sumner we will get, I was bleeding the clutch. I was able to clear the old fliud and run it through with nice clear brake fluid. After starting the car, it sort of went into first with very little noise, seemed to gear change smoothly. As I parked, crunched the reverse gear, pulled forward and crunched the first too.

So no joy. The next thing i was told to try was to increase the gap between the pedal and master cylinder. So I gave this ago, but still nothing.

I have been told that I I take it back to the guys who fitted the gearbox, I will be charged for removal, repair and refitting.....

Anybody have any other ideas i can try?
