S4 Spider Alternator

Hi,

I've just finished the music installation on my 1992 S4 Spider automatic (please see photos) and everything was good before I have started the air conditioner. If it is both music and air conditioning, the alternator doesn't charge the battery enough. Maybe you know if someone sells a higher output alternator, I need aroung 90-100 A. Alfaholics racing one is not enough also.

Thanks in advance.

Pimpin sound system man...

A big sound system, yes requires a big alternator.. i would also suggest a 1 farad capacitor to be added to your set up so when the bass line drops, you not only get goosebumps... but your lights and your aircon stay on...

The GTA has a 120amp alternator and so does the 166.. maybe check and see what the compatibility is in terms of mounting points, etc....

Check the MSD ignitions website in the states, they sell big capacity alternators, and your car being a s4 spider is a model of Alfa that was still sold in the states before they stopped i think in 1991, so just check on their page.. they might have one in stock for you..

Also check flatout website in Japan... they seem to have any alfa bits you need, only problem the page has limited amounts of English, but plenty of pics so you can see what the items are..

Good luck man.. nice sound..

Re: S4 Spider Alternator

Hi,

Thank you very much for the info!

I have a 2 farad capacitor, you can see it on a picture of the trunk on the right side.

Actually the installation was made by professional guys here, but we all together were testing it with the A/C out of Freon. As we pumped the Freon in yesterday, the voltage drops immediately after A/C is on.

Have you heard anything regarding re-winding the alternator making it output higher?
