Possible new Bertie Owner...Price advice please
I viewed a 1600 Alfa GT Junior today in a egg plant (browny/purple) colour today.
Covered about 40k miles (on a rebuilt engine from 1988), and the body has done around 140k in total.
The car has undergone LOTS of body restoration in the past (new floorpan, wings e.t.c), and I couldn't see any fault with the body, no rust or anything, and paint very bright. Panel gaps excellent.
Car idled very smoothly, didnt appear to have any synchro issues. Big wallet full of invoices, you can tell it has had money chucked at it.
Everything worked apart from a wobbly speedo.
Car also has the GTA replica alloys. Also new front seat covers, interior was incredibly tidy, only a slight crack in dash, new alfa rubber mats and leather centre bit...in all it was in superb condition.
I would need to have the underside checked over as well, but would do you think it is realistically worth, considering the less popular colour, the 1600 engine and condition?

Re: Possible new Bertie Owner...Price advice please
It's a bit difficult without seeing the car, I wont do a web search to try and find it as it might colour my judgement... so here's my uninformed guess.... £6000.00
Maybe a bit more, you haven't given a year, so I'm working on the basis of it being a four headlamp car 73-76, rather than the earlier two headlamp one.
Do check the underside though, lots of very shiny cars can have some real issues underneath. I walked around an immaculate looking Boat Tail spider a bit back, sticker price was 12K.. which is very high... I put my finger gently through the chassis rail and quietly walked away!
I've also used up an enormous amount of time and welding wire underneath mine in the past three months

It was a 72 twin headlamp car.
Unfortunately, I was messaged this morning to tell me it has been sold!

Funnily enough, they were asking .....£6000 :P
I was ideally looking for an Alfa Red Bertie with the 1750/2000, so I wasn't heart broken, but it was a beautiful car.
(PS: Does the 1600 not have the same roar as a 2000?, this one didn't roar like a 2000 spider I have driven before)

Re: Possible new Bertie Owner...Price advice please
Good guess then
The roar will be down to the type of air filter, the standard filters are much quieter than K&N's or trumpets. Never driven a 1600, but I can't imagine them sounding much different, GTA's sound pretty good and they are only 1600's
Good luck with the search

Re: Possible new Bertie Owner...Price advice please
All Alfa Nord engines roars, depending on being buck standard or different air intake and exhaust, you can get all the roar you want - and can stand in the long run.
The differences are:
1300 - very rev happe, needs rev to deliver
1600 - like 1300 but more punch
1750 - more touque and power at less revs, could do with LSD
2000 - even more touque and power at less revs, needs a LSD

I thought an LSD was standard on 2000's? Mine has one.

It was in the UK Jim. Might not have been everywhere.
I've got one on my 1750. Makes a huge difference and a lot more fun!

Only 25000 to 30000 pounds... cheap at half the price
Makes me feel a bit better about the cost of our restoration!
Lovely looking car!

It wouldn't! Very different back axle setups.
Would one from a 75 2.0 fit yours?
