RSS Feed MAINTENANCE LOGIN" message

I'm not very techie so forgive the disjointedness!

Half an hour ago or so I did not have AO open (on Ebay actually) and a pop up box with something like the above message pops up with a field for user name and password for Alfaowner.com.

I'm on a Mac using Safari btw and I don't intentionally subscribe to any RSS feeds as far as I'm aware.

Was the site down or was it something fishy?

I tried again just now and presto! Straight in as usual.

AO was offline for a few hours

But it's back

That wasnt a few hours, it was about 15 mins whilst we tried to speed up the server, we have some more changes to make later too so be warned

All that makes sense but why would it offer me a "maintenance login" while offline? I'd have assumed it was for the management.

Mr Jim,

Thats because certain errors that happen, we prefer that Joe public does not get to see them, so we disable all logins apart from those that have a maintenance login, its as simple as that but understand your point of view.
