IM system not clearing saved messages - Resolved

the IM system not clearing messages like the old pager.

I filled my IM system yesterday about 22 hours ago, went to use it today and it hadn't cleared them down, I had to manually do this, the link to clear then decided to not work, so I had to use the quick links and go to IM inbox to clear this, which was a bit of hasstle.

the old pager system used to auto delete after 1 hour iirc

The IM cache used to clear at midnight

I've had a lot of posts recieved by IM since NAD and noticed that my IM box doesn't clear some in there are over a week old is this a problem with staff accounts or is it across the board.

BTW I've been deleting IM's to make way for new one's so I'm not sure if you can see if this is a problem on my account or across the whole forum

I believe IMs are deleted once they're replied to. Could be wrong, though.

No, they do not automatically clear anymore. They used to clear when viewed by someone [no reply needed to do that], say after 25mins or so. BUT now they are just there whether read {by recipient} or not [applies to both inbox & sentbox] until you manually delete them.

I've reached my stored IM quota, but when I try to access the page to delete some, I get a

Bad Request

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

when i try to access it from FF 3.5.; when I try to access that same page from IE 7, nothing happens at all... I'm pretty sure I was able to manually delete IM's previously - but that may have been a long time ago...

Problem found, fixed and edited.

We now delete daily! That means all messages that have been read by the recpient(s) will automatically be deleted at midnight every day, first delete batch in T- 5 minutes
