Just over £800. That was for the 72,000 mile service, cambelt, variator, new boot seal, new undertray, fix the idle problem, replace the auxiliary belt, and lots of small things, like new wiper blades, new nuts and bolts all over the place and fixed my exhaust. Not too bad a price I think?

edit: they also gave it a good old clean for me!

Re: Any body else in Cornwall???

My old garage used to give my car a good wash everytime I took it in, even used to get a courtesy car. Nice little touches like that go a long way. Need my front downpipe replacing, could be giving them a call, not a job I could do myself!

Re: Any body else in Cornwall???

I seem to drive a lot on the road to St Austell at the mo, normally after a late night seemed like a good idea at the time yes of course I'll drive you to work in the morning conversation. I'm the red 147 with the CSC exhuast.

Saw a red 156 going out of Truro this morning, will keep an eye out for fellow AO's.

Re: Any body else in Cornwall???

Ruan. I am needing a new Rad and themostat. The Cambourne lot seem the closest I have heard about so I will probably use them. Question. Do you get your own parts or leave it to them.

I left them to it! They used all genuine parts as well.

Re: Any body else in Cornwall???

I'm here as well, the posh end of Tuckingmill, Camborne

Ongaros are highly rated but seem vey expensive to me, I have got some frankly silly quotes from them. I tend to use Richard Brother, Redruth for bits I cant do and they never let me down. Might ask them to wash my car GTV next time though

Re: Any body else in Cornwall???

Ongaros are very good. However, they are also an official Alfa service centre so the price is a little higher than average. I reckon you probably get what you pay for - I used a local garage for a while but they didn't really know the quirks of alfas or standard things to check for (they never fixed the variator and said not to worry about the diesel noise). I'm not complaining - they did a good job too, on the whole, but some specialist attention is probably worth it at least every now and then.

Re: Any body else in Cornwall???

I posted a thread in the 'general discusions' section last night, think it should have gone in here.

I was in Sainsburys in Truro last evening and a GTV parked next to me, took a pic for prosperity sake and popped it on here.

Anyone else park next to other alfas if they see a parking space?

Re: Any body else in Cornwall???

Yeah, was me, I thought it was you, I've seen you driving along there a few times, I'm terrible most days as I only just notice another alfa just as its passing me.

Give me a wave next time, the girlfriend works in Holmebush so I sometimes drop her off, thats why I'm always stuck in the traffic.

Will hasn't owned up yet to being in Sainsburys yet, suppose his reg plate gives him away!

Yep - that person is more likely to care about cars and therefore less likely to open their door into you Plus it looks good

Re: Any body else in Cornwall???

Thats a very good point, maybe we could teach a few other drivers some car door etiquette!

I was wondering if anyone has had to replace the exhaust downpipe on a 147 in the local area, having to get mine done soon-ish, need to know if anyone has a good recomendation of where I can take the car too? I went to Ongaro the other day but they said it would be around £700 for the part alone as it was a alfa original part, I don't mind paying for the job to be done, but I don't fancy parting with that much.

Re: Any body else in Cornwall???

There is going to be one in June at Newquay, not sure about the details, the thread for it is:

http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/south...et-2008-a.html

We haven't had anything in Cornwall so far this year, there is a meet near Bristol every so often, think it is Castle Comfort.
