AOSW Big May Meet – Prancing Horses, Sporting Hearts

So who fancies a day out which will give you:

• The chance to look around a racing spec Ferrari and the garage that maintains it.
• Meeting up with a Ferrari Owners Club.
• The opportunity to look at classic cars from all over the world.
• A couple of nice drives through Somerset.

The plan for the day is for everyone to meet at Podimore Services (A303 Services, Podimore, Nr Yeovil, Somerset, BA22 8JG) – ideally in the car park beside the petrol station, but wherever we can if the turnout is great!

From there we will then drive over to Paul Witts Specialist Cars (Paul Witts) (Great Western Road, Martock, Somerset, TA12 6HB) - about 20 minutes from the services - where we will get the opportunity to look around a race-spec Ferrari that the guys have readied for this seasons racing. There will also hopefully be a Ferrari Owner Club in attendance (this is still being negotiated at the moment). There will be plenty of photo opportunities to be had here! There is no cost at all for this part of the day – it’s a very great gesture by Paul Witts.

Once we have finished here we will drive back towards the A303 and head to the Haynes International Motor Museum (Haynes Motor Museum) (Sparkford, Yeovil, Somerset BA22 7LH). This was a venue for a meet in February 2007, and proved to be very popular then. The website is very informative, and will hopefully entice you guys to come and join us on what will be a fantastic day out! For those who will be bringing young ones, Haynes Museum has some activities to keep them occupied (Click here for details). There is a restaurant on site for you guys to grab something to eat and drink unless you choose to bring your own lunches.

There is a group entry discount that reduces ticket prices from £7.50 per adult and £4 per child, to £5.50 per adult and £2.50 per child. Family tickets are available, but the group entry discount is cheaper in total than these tickets.

I hope for us all to have a fantastic day, and hopefully have a good turn-out of many gorgeous Alfa’s! I’m looking forward very much to this one, it has the potential to be a blinder!

EDIT: Make sure you are at the services for 11am, this is the time we'll be setting off for Paul Witt's place!

Re: AOSW May Meet: 'Prancing Horses, Sporting Hearts'

Any chance of adding in a venue where we could watch the Monaco F1 Gp?

Re: AOSW May Meet: 'Prancing Horses, Sporting Hearts'

Hammy just a thought but most of the guys coming for this will have plenty to occupy them, IMO there is not a lot of mileage in sitting in a pub watching the race, remember these are family events and for Haynes etc i would hope members would want to bring families ? Just my opinion

Re: AOSW May Meet: 'Prancing Horses, Sporting Hearts'

Balancing this out, I think you have a good point there Ray. Looking at the schedule, it's going to be hard to fit in a pub visit to watch the GP with what is already planned.

I have aimed this meet so people are able to bring families, and have pointed out activities for younger ones in the event details.

It will be awkward to find two more hours in this event to squeeze in the F1. Myself, I will be recording it to watch when I get home. Hopefully a Lewis Hamilton win will top off what is going to be a fantastic day out.

(Talking of F1, if it is your thing, I believe in the Museum for an additional charge you can get your picture taken in Michael Schumachers F1 show car)

I promise you won't regret it!

(P.S. I need to get a new recorder before this event to record the GP on )
