The first of what will hopefully become a regular fixture in the AOSS Events Calendar.

Date : Sunday, 10th March 2013

Start Time : 10.30am

Start Location : Sainsbury's, Westfield Road, EH11 2QW - https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=sa...tfield+Rd,+Edinburgh,+United+Kingdom&t=m&z=16

Gather together a few Alfas, go for a short drive, throw in a bit of scenery, and finish with a spot of late breakfast at a nearby 'Italian'. What better way to blow away the cobwebs/hangover on a Sunday morning?

Hopefully, this inaugural run will be graced by a 'guest of honour' - in the shape of no less than GAZ, Regional Rep for AONW, who'll be at Murrayfield on the Saturday watching his team being trounced by our boys in dark blue,. He'll be in need of some consolation the next day, so let's have a good turnout to offer him some shoulders to cry on, :D.

Meet in the car park of Sainsbury's on Westfield Road, Gorgie (across the railway line from Murrayfield stadium and about 100yds from Alfa Indy garage, Edward Labinjoh Cars). A quick run in under the shadow of the castle for a loop around Holyrood Park, with a stop at the top for a photo opportunity. Then down to Leith Walk for sustenence at 'Taste of Italy' - http://www.vittoriagroup.co.uk/#toi_menus.

Hopefully see some of you there - if it proves popular it will be repeated over a variety of routes (longer as the weather and hours of daylight improve) and destinations in the coming months, :).

OK, so according to Holyrood Park Ranger Service, it's the bit of Queen's Drive from near the Commonwealth Pool round past Holyrood Palace to St Margaret's Loch that's closed on a Sunday but the 'top road' is still open so we [fingers crossed] should [/fingers crossed] be able to do something like this : https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?sadd...axter's&mra=dpe&mrsp=3&sz=15&via=1,3&t=m&z=14 .
Might be a case of just suck it and see on the day though,. I have alternatives 'in reserve' should the need arise, :D.

Good turnout, despite the lousy weather - 6 cars, the most we've had at a local meet for a while . Thanks to all who braved the blizzards, especially Stuart (ultraviola) and Ben from the western side of the AOSS region, and Gaz and Anna (Annabella) all the way from AONW - although the latter two did have an ulterior motive and weren't here just for a short run through Edinburgh with a spot of Italian brunch thrown in,.

A couple of pics from the departure point:

Just a pity that, despite my 'phone call to the Ranger Service in Holyrood Park to confirm that the road around Arthur's Seat was open on a Sunday, it was closed when we got there,. I has the perfect spot picked out for a photo-shoot too, :(.
