SICD is near me in the South Scotland area, maybe worth sticking a post on the thread in there for those that dont browse up here in the north section!
I'd say Perth could also be in South Scotland!
If it wasn't for Mr Bruce and I was still an area rep I'd maybe claim it was......
Keep up the good work, see you there!

The Tay is the boundary Philip, or that's what I always thought I see your point though, and will get oor Malky to post up something in the SS lounge too. I've got you down with your 147 for AROC's display of Alfa's through the years too, well volunteered mate

Geographically speaking the Tay runs North to South through Perth & does not turn East until after the Friarton Bridge. Therefore using the Tay for a proper East/West split would put Perth NORTH of the line.

I would say Perth is pretty much the heart of Scotland..........and now it has city status I reckon it should decide itself on its geographical allegiance.
....or just 'do a Berlin' and put a graffiti-clad wall through the middle

You want to get all technical, eh? OK! The River Tay exits Loch Tay at latitude 56° 34' 01" N and flows generally north-eastwards until it reaches Grandtully at 56° 39' 25" N at which point it turns to the south and east to reach Perth at latitude 56° 23' 49" N. From here, as Craig correctly points out, it turns east and briefly (for about 10 out of its total length of 120 miles), yes, the river is to the south of Perth, but by the time it passes the old RAF Errol base, it is again north of the city all the way to its estuary at 56° 27' 24" N.
I rest my case and await the jury's verdict, .

As I seem to remember the Boundary line between AOSS and AONS was just a notional thing anyway, with a kind of hazey line drawn from the middle of the Tay estuary to somewhere like Oban, but, to be honest, no one really cared The Jocks have always been a friendly lot and the split was only made to make things a bot more manageable.

You're getting desperate if your case rests on ONE bend of the river.
Clearly once the river is past Friarton it's mean line of advance is east.
Maybe we need a poll. Let the masses decide.
