SICD is near me in the South Scotland area, maybe worth sticking a post on the thread in there for those that dont browse up here in the north section! :D

I'd say Perth could also be in South Scotland! :p
If it wasn't for Mr Bruce and I was still an area rep I'd maybe claim it was......

Keep up the good work, see you there!

The Tay is the boundary Philip, or that's what I always thought ;) I see your point though, and will get oor Malky to post up something in the SS lounge too. I've got you down with your 147 for AROC's display of Alfa's through the years too, well volunteered mate :cheese:

Ooops, did I start that!

I would say Perth is pretty much the heart of Scotland..........and now it has city status I reckon it should decide itself on its geographical allegiance.

....or just 'do a Berlin' and put a graffiti-clad wall through the middle :p

Just thought I'd step in here boys at this point, being a geographer by profession :p

According to Ordnance Survey (and based on GPS readings of latitude and longitude relative to the Scottish coastline) the exact centre of Scotland lies close to the mountain Schiehallion, just west of Pitlochry.

Consequently, any place lying to the south of Pitlochry (give or take a km or two) is technically classed as 'South Scotland'. This would easily incorporate Perth as even Dundee is south of this latitude!

The trouble is with geographical descriptions is that they tend to be relative to the person talking, i.e. being in Glasgow, I would refer to next weeks SICD event as "being up north" despite its southern location ;)

Perth does indeed lie to the south (and west) of the Tay as we generally take the Central Business District as the central point of any settlement. In the case of Perth, this lies around South Street (kind of gives a clue!).

Glad to be of assistance :D

Game, set and match to me!   :D
Thanks chaps!
Hang on. You can't win the argument by moving the border further north. :tut::rant: You've just moved the whole of Angus into South Scotland.

The new border now seems to be about Laurencekirk. :wow: We can't have that!! :tut: :)

This has to be one of the funniest threads in AOS for a wee while now.

Great stuff chaps!

Back on topic, Malky and Chris are looking forward to meeting lot's of Western customers on Sunday and will have a vast array of bits and bobs for you. If there is anything you specifically want then let them know.

Yeah, unfortunatley Fife meets wouldn't be successfull without members joining us from either side.... :)
