We also have a team page with individual pages set up for various worthwhile causes that we've chosen, so if you would prefer to donate to one of the other charities and still contibute towards my teams fundraising total please use the following link -
Thinking about doing the Mens Health survival of the fittest in Edinburgh on October 21st, its not as long but has more abstacles....should be a nice course around the city centre and its cheaper to enter too. I wouldn't do that one for charity I dont think, as I've signed up for Maggies Monster bike and hike in May next year......so I'll wait till nearer that to bug folk for sponsorship again!
Ha yeah he's a sick lad, he's a life guard and gymnast though so he'd been waiting all day to do those lol.
The monkey bars are tough things because the bars are on bearings so they spin very easily. So that's one of the better ways of doing it without getting wet!
I'm also doing the tough mudder Scotland on the Saturday. But I did the midlands tough mudder yesterday and it's a killer! I'll post a YouTube video when I get all of my GoPro clips together (also tempted to put my GoPro on my GT at some point on my next road trip )
Pro tip btw, don't worry about how far you can run. Worry about how strong your legs are and how good their endurance is, I'd do a lot of shuttle runs up hill to help with that. I haven't ran over 4 miles before until I did this, but the thing that killed me was the cramp in my legs with 3 miles left. The amount of mud that your legs have to pull through is unreal so it's all about muscle endurance not cardio.
Thanks for that Ben.
I'm doing a mix of road / hill running and gym / circuit training, plus 5-aside football and squash games every week so a bit of everything really!

Just normal trail shoes, and yes you saw me lose my shoe in the video (and throw my sock away, I did the last 5 miles with no socks on), I lost them and found them 4 times on the "mud mile" which that clip was from. Tie your laces tight!
I actually got the exact same ones for trail/hill running earlier in the year, but not using them for tough mudder, using an old scruffy pair of gym/running shoes that I'm happy to chuck after it, with an old pair of swimming shorts (already mud stained from turkish mud baths).
Got some rugby gloves to try, If no good I'll chuck them, only cost about £5.
This Saturday folks, sponsorship total doing well so far....but still about 40% off my target.
Between us we are raising money for 6 or 7 different worthy charites!
Really looking forward to it, lengthy participant (death) waiver to be signed, early start time and all.
I should have been at T in the Park for some practice at getting through deep mud.......
Well done Phil. I had hoped to make it along, but it's further from the caravan than I thought.
