Just trying to firm up details for this but thinking a Dundee meet is a good idea.
Provisionally (looking at other events) I am looking at Thurs 29th March. My thoughts so far are having food at 8 (at something like a beefeater in Dundee with good parking and lack of neds). For those who want a run was thinking of starting at 6pm from Tay Bridge car park (south end of tay bridge on Newport/Tayport exit of RB).
My provisional thought on route is Back roads to Perth (fife side), up the A9 a little then back into Dundee past piperdamn.
I will post link to this on AONS, 155 and 156 forums but feel free to link this to any other alfa forums, more the merrier
Exactly... Will probs draw up a shortlist of food places with good parking and see what we have. Ok beefeater isn't best food in world but plenty of parking and on the kingsway so good for getting home for everyone. Happy for suggestions for good places to eat
Will see if I can map the route and post up a link or something as well. That way if people live along or work near route and can't make the start they can just wait for string of noisy alfa's and join the back Some seriously good roads esp the one back from A9 to Dundee, lots of fun If we leave dead on 6 should be back in Dundee for food about 7.40ish enough time to look over the cars till all the non-run attendees arrive.
If it's a success (should be as we have loads of owners in the area for whom aberdeen or edinburgh are too far for a monthly meet) then I will maybe organise a few more. Maybe do it bi-monthly over summer and a Christmas thing.
I't's good that you're taking the time to do this, as I reckon we need someone in that area to take care of meet/run needs. I'm stuck in the middle between Dundee and Aberdeen, we already have a regular meet up in Aberdeen, but nothing for the Dundee area.
Following some feedback re. Linking to this on other forums.
If you ain't allowed to link to here no worries. as far as I am concerned it's just a social meet of Alfa fans. I am maintaining link here as it's a good forum where owners of all models are welcome so I don't need to maintain 10 different lists. Had no complaints from 155 or 156 forums for linking to here.
So if you want to post in your own model specific forums I can't see any one would worry. Maybe another general alfa forum in competition with AO may delete it but can't see the others doing anything like that.
Anyone know a good online map software that I can program in route and then just share link???
Tried OS's software as it said I could do this, spent a while programming it and then found out you need to register to see what I share... grrrrrr
If joining in perth I suggest either waiting just before we get there or on A9 just beyond. You can see when I share route.
Once my ancillary belt is back on and I am happy my cambelt and waterpump are all happy and not going to have some fun at my expense I will probably do a trial run to get an idea of time it will take. On my OS planning I reckon it's about 70miles so avg of 35mph would be 2hrs and I am sure on an evening weekday we should be exceeding that. Can always re-group in Dunkeld if some drivers want to take it a little easier before heading back to dundee.
I can even see if I can make up some sort of waypoint file or list that will give correct route for satnavs so people can have their own pace and not feel any pressure to drive beyond their (or cars) capabilities.
Google Maps probably as good as any mate. Personally i would not be too bothered about going to that length. Just have recognised stop/meets points posted on here. That way people can suit themselves.
That works for us up the road anyway
Google maps is a pita... would need to try and add all sorts of weigh points to get it to correctly route. Can't see a way to just click on points to get it to route.
I may be able to upload the KML file somewhere then all you need to do is copy link into google maps search bar. Will see how well that works. Maybe just upload to my skydrive as a public file or summint.
what time you aiming to be at broxden at? Just thinking i might be able to pick you guys up there (i work in perth) and maybe others from further south could join the convey there? Although at the rate i'm going with fixing up the 156 i might be in a corsa
Was thinking route will be perfect time to drive so may be better if there is a layby just on A9 or just before we join m90 to wait for convoy. but if numbers are not rediculous and\or a few people are joining in perth happy for a toilet stop and meet point
Had tea at the riverside inn the other week and it was excellent...
Ok the under then overdid my teenage daughters steak and brought wrong pudding but staff were excellent at sorting it and without even asking knocked 20% off our bill.
Anyway food was superb, defo a few steps up from Wetherspoon or similar and loads of parking so we should have a good bite after the run
Sorry but I wouldn't manage to get down in time as I work in Aberdeen and don't finish until 5.15. Hope it is a good meet and well done Mr Mac for organising something in the Dundee area
Is it possible any of the maybes who can or can't attend could let us know asap as the run is this Thursday and will provisionally book for food tomorrow. I can ring back to restaurant on wed or Thurs and alter booking but don't want to mess them about too much. Food is booking for 8pm so if anyone is coming for food but not run then, again, let me know so I know how many are meeting at start point.
Cheers
John
It would be better to overestimate then slightly reduce numbers I guess so if you are more yes than know then it would be good to know that as well.
Are any of those who suggested they wanted to meet us near Perth wanting us to stop in anywhere like suggested? if yes let me know so we can agree place for route

Unfortunately, I now have to go to Carlisle on Thursday and won't be finished there until 6 pm. Had I been in an Alfa, then still no problem ( :tut:  ) but I'll be in my business vehicle, an asthmatic Renault Kangoo van, so absolutely no chance of me getting there before the rest of you are on the dessert, .
Lastly can those meeting at car park email me mobile no's and I will email mine back, just if we get separated or someone is late to car park we can check they are still coming or you can buzz or txt if running 5 min late
Same for Perth joining so if you don't see us you can check in with me
Right, think I'll book for 4, small but it's a start for a regular meet.
Next one will be a weekend to suit people who work late as a few wanted to come but couldn't
Can adjust numbers in day if anything changes... see post 3 above for my email address and email me your mobile no if your coming, just 1 number so far.
