Can any of you recommend a good, reputable to cost effective (within reasonable limits!) spraycentre/bodyshop in the central belt - preferably west side?
My car is in for an MOT this week, but since I've just spent a fortune on her I'm expecting her to sail through. So after that my next job is to treat her outer coat I'm planning on:
Respray - same colour
New stainless exhaust system
New spoiler/front skirt/rear valance
So if anyone could also help me out with ideas for options for the above, that'd be great.
Everything I'll be doing myself except for the spray obviously.
We use these people ukaccidentrepair.com to fix all our fleet cars. They do a good job (they have to as our cars can get rejected on return to the manufacturer if there's the slightest thing 'iffy' about their appearance) at a good price but obviously we get a special deal for our bulk business. Having said that, I'm sure they'll be able to come up with a half-decent price - just ask for Karlene when you phone and mention that they were recommended by David from Hertz.
I've decided to use them to repair the bumper and wing on the 159 after this little 'incident' : http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/rant-room/272370-why-cant-they-just-fess-up.html . Of course, I'm getting 'mates rates' which distorts the pricing a little, but even so there's a huge difference between their quote of £150 and Western's bodyshop with their £685! .
I had a rear bumper scrape rectified by A. C. Taylor Coachworks (Linn Park Industrial Estate, nr. Castlemilk) and would highly recommend them.
I posted this a while back for info!:
"They were around £150 cheaper than Western's own centre and took care as they do a lot of prestige cars such as Porsche/Ferrari etc. They paint-match on site and turned around in a day. Seemed a very professional service - even giving me a lift to work after I dropped the car off with them!
The estimator I dealt with is a guy called Chris Stoddard (0141 634 8910) who was excellent. I told him there may be others from AO who may need work done in future and he said he'd be delighted to help"
I've heard of a guy behind Motherwell B&Q who's supposed to be very good. Never been myself, although my brother uses him for any work from his garage and my mother has used him as well, both are very happy with his work and costs.
i dunno if one of 'em is deaf. There's a couple of car places round there, think they all use the one sprayshop there though. Never actually been in the sprayshop though, just McMillan's place.
Mclarens in Kirkintilloch get my vote. They fixed a self inflicted scrape on my rear 3/4 panel for £250 where the western bodyshop quoted a nonsense figure around the £700 mark. Their excuse was that the would need to blend the repair into the door, roof & bumper. Mclarens guy said yes, that is the by the book way, but he believed his guys have enough skill to not do that & keep it fairly local. How right he was. 100% perfect & I can spot dodgy paintwork a mile off. Really nice guys to deal with.
David are you off your head trust me on this one no go there
U could come to us we can give no bad quotes not saying cheapest but we do give not bad ones no too sure about resprays private but anything else let us know
