I am going to be in Stirling at the end of May with a few mates, can anybody recommend good restaurants?

Italian / Indian / Chinese

we will be down for a couple of nights so a few to choose from would be great.

thanks

If you are with mates and no kids then don't go to papa joe's, although they generally do a good steak, the food is rather kinda "out the freezer and into the oven". The burgers are gash!!

I would however recommend the following, and of course this is a personal opinion but i don't think you'll be disapointed.

Italian - Mama Mia (Spittal Street), just opened recently and although i have not been in it is on my list of "must go". A few friends have been and are well impressed.

Chinese - The Regent (Upper Craigs), is well established in town and is by far the best in town. I regularly phone an order for pick up (they don't deliver). Grilled Chicken Cantonese Style or Fillet Beef with Black Pepper.

Indian - Spice Garden (Allan Park), is again well established and my favourite although my friends and i always disagree. Indian Cottage is another good one on Dumbarton Road. Lastly there is Kushis in Upper Craigs that is a BYO, which i've not been to but gets good reviews from friends.

If you want more traditional

Ziggy Foreles (Port Street) - Just good food at a decent price.

And lastly if you want to push the boat out a bit

Hermanns (Broad Street) - Pricey but the Fillet Steak (£24ish) is beeuuutifull!

Hope this helps and let me know if you agree with the above on any you may visit

As L-man says Spice Garden & Indian Cottage are very good but also try the Indian Brasserie which is owned by the same guy who has the Indian Cottage but is a bit more laid back than it's sister restaurant.

If you like mexican then Smiling Jacks is brilliant but you need to book in advance as it's pretty small. It's cheap and cheerful decor too but the food is fantastic.

Sh*t, can't believe i forgot about smiling jack's, the guy who owns it is my mates cousin..

A great wee restaurant, the atmosphere is great, and if you wait and get a table a little later you can sit all night!!

Long island ice tea anyone?

I hope jackgee is staying for more than 3 nights with the endorsements we have provided, you'll go home 2 stone heavier!
