Knockhill - Friday 1st August

Hello AOSS

The Alfa Romeo Owners Club Scottish Section have booked Knockhill Racing Circuit for an evening track session on Friday August 1st - 5pm-8pm.

Our track nights are always a great success with around 30 or so cars taking to the circuit. Its not a race session or a 'brain in glovebox' hot hatch night. Everyone drives at their own pace and gives you plenty of room. All in all, an opportunity to drive your car on the limit without fear of the fun-police spoiling the party.

We would like to extend our invitiations to AO members wishing to take part. The session costs £60 if you pay in advance, £70 if you pay on the night. If anyone would like to pre-book, PM me and I'll send you an address to which you can send a cheque. Additional drivers are £25 each and passengers are free. You'll need to bring your driving license with you. Knockhill have clamped down on this in recent years and they will not allow you on the circuit without seeing it. Helmets are available for hire at the circuit for anyone who doesn't have their own.

I'm not sure if I want to go no the track or spectate.

I'm always scared I will damage my car. and I've never been to Knockhill.

Well if you do, make sure you don't pull on your handbrake when you park up in the pit lane - brake pads 'welding' to brake discs are never pleasant.

I suggested this to my wife. She wasn't very happy at all with the idea. I said she didn't have to come if she didn't want to.

Evidently according to her its our first wedding anniversary on the first of August. (I have some vague recollection of a party with a religious guy) According to her its not romantic to go driving on a track! I just don't understand women.

Oh well. Please don't tell me this is an annual event on the 1st of August?

I assume a set of tyres has to be budgeted for? - never 'tracked' before - gotta be done though

I can travel & stay with a pal near Glasgow (he will no doubt be the passenger - I have NEVER tracked before, but SO want to - nearly went to the 'ring' - I dare ya

Remember you need to cover the insurance as well

I'd love to but my minty green bouncy castle would be crazy at knockhill... so it depends if the suspension has been worked on before Aug 1st.

Might be able to go, let you know nearer the time. Would love to race but can't afford tyres / extra insurance. Would be interetsted in gping as a spectator though. Knockhill's a fair distance but easily managable.

Maybe a good opportunity to gather the Scottish AO Members, even if we don't track they have a huge carpark I reckon I'll pop up on the evening whether I track the car or not is irrelevant

Don't disagree with that, but I'm off on holiday that evening so I won't be there.
