well i came close to the zonda on speed (acceleration anyway) with a journey to le mans in a Marcos Mantis GT. that was insanely fast. roof down all the way to La Sarthe! great fun. I'll try and find some pics and scan them in. we even met Jem Marsh, the founder at the golf course.

I got a passenger ride in Mal Nicholson's Ferrari P4 replica with its Renault 600bhp engine for a short leg of a FIAT Motor Club Trossachs run many years ago.

MMMM....could that car shift - overtaking on A roads was truly 'awesome' (and I hate that word).

It wasn't so much the way he was able to overtake the car in front with oncoming traffic clearly visible that almost forced me to change my under garments it was the braking power which had to come into play when drivers in front slammed on the anchors almost in shock when they saw their rear view mirror fill with red.

I know it was a replica and I don't know how it compares with the Zonda, but certainly the fastest car I've ever been in to this day.

Zonda - nice car - would make my day going for a trip in that

I know Mal tends to 'swing the lead a bit', but 600bhp from a Renault (25) PRV V6 2.5 litre single turbo, but C'mon ...

P.S. Apart from running an Alfa 145 Cloverleaf as a daily driver, and a Noble P4 replica (like Mal's), I also run the world-wide register for these things.

Guess the moral is don't believe everything a Yorkshireman tells you huh?

Well in any case it may as well have been an F1 car in comparison with any other car I'd been in. Does he still have it?
