Scottish Italian Car Day

25-05-2008
As you will no doubt have seen from Painter Girl's thread the AROC Scottish Italian Car Day is on the 25th of May at Craigtoun Country park near St Andrews in fife.
AROC have very kindly extended an invite to Alfaowner.com to come along to the event. If we can give the AROC Scottish Section an idea of numbers they will provide a dedicated area for us.
This has always been a great and well attended event, as many of you already know. With cars ranging from the beautiful to the very rare.
So, to avoid having to park half a mile outside the park (as may had to do last year, due to the high attendance), Get your name on the list now.
This goes out, not only to the AOSS gang, but all.
Thanks to Fife164 for the invite
And to Painter girl for highlighting the event in my absence

I take it that means your idea for a drive beforehand and an overnighter is no longer an option for you.

Re: Scottish Italian Car Day

Nope Fraser.....I'd still be happy to do a drive for half the day on the Saturday beforehand followed by a shandy supported natter on the overtaking opportunites of the day in a nice fife lounge bar, then b*gger off on the Sunday morning and do something else that I could moan about later.

Indeed Fraser...I know of a great boutique style B&B in St.Andrews which I have stayed at before on the same weekend. A bit pricey but luuuurvly. But if we had more takers we would really have to consider somewhere perhaps out of town that had more dedicated parking.

Oh, and steve and I have 'buried the hatchet' following his recent PM to me so no more griping from me on SCID.

Not really Philip....Bearing in mind that I get the chance to catch up with friends and fellow members at least a few times a year now due to our regular meets it kinda makes the Italian Car Day less important as an annual chance to catch up day. Never really been a great fan of static displays in any case...it's the people and the driving that make it for me these days.

I'd be keen to try to do something on the Saturday up your way though.

Re: Scottish Italian Car Day

I agree David. The whole point of being in any sort of club is about enjoying the activity. In the case of cars, that would be driving them.
That's not to say i don't like looking as well, but, driving is what it's about. As for overtaking, as anyone who's been on a run with me knows, I'm quite happy to play 'tail end Charlie', indeed, I consider it my responsability as area rep to help any laggers or breakdowns.

So, in short. A run on the Saturday is still well up in the plans. I'm all ears for suggestions. The AROC crew are more than welcome to join us if they want. Not just for this run, but to any of the AO runs.

We know of a nice modern B&B in Anstruther too, reasonable prices. So maybe a less costly alternative.

Seriously though, this has the makings of a very good weekend. Lets not spoil it with daft squables. If we all liked the same things it'd be a pretty dull world

p.s. CJ, I'll wear my Alfa BBcap so you can pick me out of the crowd

Re: Scottish Italian Car Day

I'm kinda in the mood for a fife run on the Saturday followed by a wee overnight say in Anstruther or Crail for food, beers and a bit of banter (we don't even have to mention overtaking if need be).....meaning that folks who want to go to the show could head along to St.Andrews at a leisurely pace in the morning.

Any route up on the Saturday would suit me.....even up towards perthshire with a final leg bringing us back over to the East Neuk of Fife for the evening.
