Scottish Italian Car Day
Calendar: Event Calendar

As you will no doubt have seen from Painter Girl's thread the AROC Scottish Italian Car Day is on the 25th of May at Craigtoun Country park near St Andrews in fife.
AROC have very kindly extended an invite to Alfaowner.com to come along to the event. If we can give the AROC Scottish Section an idea of numbers they will provide a dedicated area for us.
This has always been a great and well attended event, as many of you already know. With cars ranging from the beautiful to the very rare.
So, to avoid having to park half a mile outside the park (as may had to do last year, due to the high attendance), Get your name on the list now.
This goes out, not only to the AOSS gang, but all.
Thanks to Fife164 for the invite
And to Painter girl for highlighting the event in my absence

Re: Scottish Italian Car Day

Reference SICD at St Andrews
For the first time in few years the sun shone but the wind was cold How cold well cold enough to see off the tattie bougles the haggis but not the police
On the AROC pitch there were the usual suspects but there was a very nice and well refettled Alfa Guilietta nice to see the cars from the 70s and 80s attracting interest.
Although the star of the show was a repro 330MM Ferrari which glistened and shone in all its glory the only pity was the company displaying it were trying to convince people that it was original and not in essence a kit car albeit an expensive kit
Little details gave their game away like the rivots on the rear fin being in line the dash and gauges are too modern for the real car
The cam boxes were testa rosso red rather than polished aluminium
Red tops were the domain of the testa rosso series of v8s in the 250 gt gto

Just a suggestion for '09 - I have a pal who is an Italian caterer (Giuliano, ex owner of Trattoria Trevi in Great Western Road and an Alfista himself. Now has the Trevi Experience in Cumbernauld. Plug plug . . . . . .. ) why not have someone like him catering Italian style on te day??
HIghlights for me - apart from the winning Spider, the old Lancia were gorgeous, the Maser spider was immense as were the Ferrari and a nostalgic tear in the eye when sitting int he Giulietta.
I'm glad you enjoyed the show. If you would like to provide me with details of your friend re the catering I will contact him and see what we can sort out for next year. We have restrictions placed on us by Fife Council as to what catering we can provide but hopefully we can sort something out.

Thanks
Jackie

Yeah Jackie.....you don't want to go challenging the fine cuisine on offer at the Park's official cafe now.

Hi Jackie

His Name is Giuliano McCulloch (before you ask - Scottish father, Italian Mother. The opposite to me . . . .) it's The Trevi Experience, and his mobile number is 07789 954495. He has an absolute cracker of a GTV too . . . . . .

Anyway - thanks again.

Hi Frank,

Thanks for the offer but I think we would have to insist that all organisers are a member of the AROC Scottish Section committee. We all have to be members of this to be covered under the insurance policy that covers the club for this event. Obviously anyone who wishes to join is more than welcome.

Thanks again.
