Basically, I'm just waiting to hear if my wife has a new job. If she does, I can't come as we will be too busy with child care and what not. If she doesn't, I have a chance of being able to come, provided the wife goes to her parents for a long weekend at that time...

Green light! Well almost certainly.
It's really complicated.
My wife didn't get the job - the surgery offered it to her best friend! But then the partners had a storming row and basically it turned out they were supposed to offer if to my wife - very complicated. She's had the senior partner on the phone this morning offering her the job.
But regardless, she doesn't want to go back to work for a month if she can avoid it, so it looks like I can come! Only thing is I may need to go home on the sunday instead of the monday - we shall see.
I suspect I will be with you, if even only for 2 days...

Wife has turned the job down for very good reasons!
I'm definitely coming!
Only thing is I'm not sure whether I'm going home on Sunday or Monday.
Sunday would save me a day's leave but am I to assume the traffic would be terribles?

Glad it looks like you can make it Fish. Lisa and I are visiting friends in Liverpool quite alot at the moment before they emigrate to Australia. We tend to stay another night if we can as the traffic coming back down south on a Sunday can be really bad. The earlier you leave on the Sunday the better. (Not that we don't want you there)

I've noticed that most people haven't confirmed that their coming? Have alot of people pulled out or just leaving it until the last minute.

Ah right, handy advice Rob.
Well the choices seem to be:
- leaving Douglas at 8.45 on a sunday morning with a cracking hangover;
- leaving Douglas at 3.00pm on sunday, getting to Liverpool at 5.30 and potentially getting stuck in heavy traffic; or
-leaving on monday...
Are you all leaving Douglas at 3.00pm on monday?

I think several people can't make it and some are still thinking. Still, 4-5 cars is a nice size, minimal waiting around for stragglers to catch up
Have you ever left Liverpool quite late, say 7.00pm on a sunday? Any idea what the traffic is like then?

Am going to be leaving on Monday morning ferry back to Lancaster - longer journey but will get me home for monday mid-afternoon which will keep the missus happy
