Weybridge to Winchester - Route Suggestions?

I'm driving down to a wedding in Winchester in a couple of weeks' time and would like to treat the car to a bit of a spanking The M3 is obviously the easy route, but how about a fun route (not a massive detour either)? Is the A31 any good? I'd probably be leaving about 10am on the Friday...

A3 take it easy round guildford, A31 is dual carriageway but keep an eye out, A32 is mostly NSL single carriageway but has some fast straights where you can get an overtake on. A272 is also NSL and a cracking road but is a popular bikers road so if the weathers good keep an eye for camera vans.
