I am sorry for you. I saw the car in the car park the other day, after having walked past the 90, and wondered if it was yours. It looked very tidy.

So now what will you drive? It's got to be cheaper to repair the car than sell it as a non-runner and have to buy something else, or was this one a second car?

They only break diffs if you drive them properly

My 3 litre 156 blew its diff up, and that was when it was still a 2.5..

Using a lot of revs, a lot of throttle and a lot of steering lock, usually at the same time. Being a bit quick off the clutch doesn't help either.. Best get a Q2 and be done with it, they drive so much better with them in as well.

The car behind me in my avatar is a new Focus RS - with the Q2 diff, decent suspension & tyres it was no quicker through the bends than my 12 year old 156

Q2 diffs are amazing bits of kit for such a small outlay, I'd recommend them to anyone with a V6.

What suspension set up do you have?

I didn't think there was a 12 year old GTA...

The car in my avatar is my old R-reg 156 V6 (3.0 engine), had Eibach Pro springs & Koni FSD shocks, it was still on standard anti-roll bars and cornered like it was on rails. Most fun car I've ever owned, in some ways better than the GTA that replaced it..

On this occaision I couldn't help but follow the long trail of diff oil that winds its way round the quayside...

But, yes, in fairness I am an Alfa Stalker. Although I think Marko is in the same category!

Ah I see, I just put two and two together as I saw your avatar looked like a GTA.

My last 156 had the same suspension set up, although only a 2.0 twin spark. I think with that engine it is a very balanced car, as soon as you go V6 it starts to get heavy.

The GTA is what I want next, I can't afford insurance yet though (not old enough).

Probably the last real Alfa really

That is likely to be Andy himself. Bit like that, if you know what I mean.
