Where's best to take your Alfa?

As the title says. Where is best to take your Alfa within this region? Experiences of good service, workmanship and advice. It can be anything you've had done.

Not a lot!

Another thumbs up for Mike at A&M Alfas in Wickham. Got my GTV on Saturday and for peace of mind took it for a cambelt and service today (or yesterday) now. Dropped car off in the morning, Mike gave me a lift to the train station so I could get home! Car all done in the evening, no nonsense or fuss.

Mike seems to know a lot about Alfas and I like that it is a small operation as you feel like your car is getting 100% attention whilst there! Cambelt change (with bearings, tensioners etc) and the 60k service all for £600, which having shopped around a little bit was more than reasonable!!

KIKI's GTV is going to Mike for a clutch change next week : As always I'm sure it is a very competetive price and always a no fuss, decent service.

Unfortunately he couldn't do the work under warranty on my Alfa, so the car is currently with Adie at AHM for the Q2 etc.

Mike @ A&M has also done a couple of services on my car, inc cambelt and has been absolutely great on both price and service. Even more of a bonus is A&M are only 5 mins from my home.

Anyone got any recommendations round Bournemouth way? I've got the belt change coming up shortly so I'd appreciate a reasonably priced specialist round these parts!

Palmer & Phillips Fiat and Alfa specialists in Oxford (next to BMW Mini Factory) very good. Used them a lot for the wife's Fiat Stilo. Always knew what they were doing and reasonable prices. Not using them currently as Alfa still under warranty so would rather pay a bit more at the stealer. Not decided yet, if I use Reading Alfa or Swindon Alfa....

Alfa Aid in Maidenhead have always been good for me. Seem to know what they are doing and have courtesy cars available. Adrian is a nice chap, who always seems to be able to make the bill more palatable!

Italian Car Spares and Repairs in Poole

I would definately recommend these guys. Sorted out my 3ltr gtv, which turned out to have a fuel supply problem, they kept on the job till they found the problem. Proper mechanics rather than glorified fitters. Car Servicing | Garage Services | Car Repair | Alfa Romeo | Fiat

I must say I wasn't that impressed with AH Motorsports (not to be confused with A & M) when my car went there for its gearbox and Q2.

The job they did was very good, but their customer service was far from it. God - to say you have to chase them was an understatement.

They were only interested in ever phoning us if they needed the car collected or off the ramp. Other than that we did all the phoning.

The car was under a warranty claim which slowed things up, but their communication was poor.

The night I went to pick it up, the gentleman who works with Adie, said the car was ready to collect but not sure if we could go that night as Adie was not there, but said he'd phone back early afternoon. (call was made at 12pm).

Kept ringing back after 4, only got answer phone and was not convenient for me to pick it up on another evening. Took a chance and went for it (50 minute drive + fuel for my mums Porsche).

Got no call or confirmation but took a chance and luckily they were still there. Adie was just sat on the phone like it was nothing when we got there.

Workmanship and diagnosis was 9/10.

Customer Service 3/10.

as an ex-regional manager & sales person, one thing i HATE is bad customer service it puts people in a bad frame of mind when they look for new places to buy or get things done, because they recieved poor service before elsewhere

I don't see how Alfa garages, esp indies, can afford to be sloppy like that, it's not like there's a mass market or mass of incoming new customers anymore.

Usually comes down to bad management, if they simply don't think they should call you to give you an update "because they're too busy" or a similar reason, it's very frustrating as a customer for something which would take them a few minutes just to give you a quick update.

And the crux is, as you've said, people that get this kind of service - regardless of the quality of workmanship - usually go elsewhere the next time.

Sad really, but unfortunately so many companies fall down in this area, especially in the UK which is unforgivable when market conditions are so bad and there is so much competition.
