Hi all

So; for all those who don't know what happened to my GTV at this years dyno day at FR&R.

On my way home i dropped 2 conrods which went through the sump. I was extremely dissapointed as that day was the most power the car made & was driving like a dream; really the car was at it's best.

So i parked it off for a month & then decided that i'm now going all out & want to build the best GTV in SA (hopefully)

The car looked beautiful (well to me) & nothing needed to be done in that department. The interior & body are in good condition. Then i saw a GTV with 19' Ti wheels & i had to have them. I sold my GT multispokes to Martin & was on the lookout for a set. After being messed around by a certain individual & searching for just over a month; Lance & i struck a deal. I will collect those wheels at the track day next week.

I will still need to change the PCD & buy tyres & will do that soon. But the car currently stands on a set of 17' teledials which i'm trying to sell off now (hint hint)

Now the fun part. So; it's time to rebuild the engine & add a turbo. This will be a very simple set up & i've already started gathering parts. I consulted with Gerhard (the car will go to Turbonutters probably in the new year) & he gave awesome advise.

Basically i'm going with a standard engine just with a 2.5 crank to lower compression. We'll make use of a T3/T4 turbo & a U flow inetrcooler as i feel that this will be easier to run boost pipes. Fueling will be taken care off by 2 extra 440cc injectors which will be mounted on the boost pipe & run of a seperate management system.

I want to make a max of 250wkw.

I will still need to upgrade brakes & get a LSD.

Please feel free to offer any advice? Will post pics of what i have so far soon.

Great Avi!!! I will support you anyway I can my man just lemme know. The 19's will look insane on your car, with the right amount of Low ofcourse. I believe it has the ability to be the greatest GTV in SA...if you want that title, you'll need a good all rounder, power, stance, looks, drive etc.

I'd also try looking for good racing seats, not crap ones, but ones that fit in well with the interior...recover them in the interior color.

Red GTV with the Cup kit and sparkling silver 19" Ti's...woah!

.
I just don't seem to get enough time set aside to come look at them, sorry man. Can you possibly cart them to the track day for a view Avi? I know it might be difficult with picking up Lance's wheels - lemme know.

You keep MAF where it is, just after the air cleaner, I have heard it works under low / medium boost, but Carlo experienced under high boost it messes about. You have to recirculate your dump valve air, (pre-trottlle back to pre-turbo) as the MAF already registered it and fuel for it, you can't dump to atmosphere otherwise it will overfuel

I would have the engine balanced, as you fit a different crank and rods to the engine. And do some homework on clutches.

This build is gonna be epic. Your going to need some serious rubber to hold that front wheels down so get some sice sticky tires.

If you are after nice coilovers and big brake kits then get yellowspeed sets from redline on milano works. They make some NICE big brake kits and coilies.

As for the wheels. I hate you lol.

No but seriously please pm me this individuals details that messed you around for 19 inch ti wheels i want those wheels so badly im prepared to be messed around with if thats what it takes lol i sound like a lady of the night but yeah so please hook a brother up!

Dump valve noise is for silly little motors.
Drivability is way more important so oe management is a must.
That is the same setup as my gtv cr is 7.8 if I remember correctly. Get a large waste gate if you want to keep the boost low.
The setup is safe for a bar and more "in my car till now " but if you need a clutch that can keep biting stay below 1 bar.

You will have to brace the cradle where you cut it the GTV do not appreciate less stiffness up there.
Gerhard know what to do with that and all the rest. We have been driving BUSSO s with that setup for more than 5 years and combined more than 40 000km.
He gave you a shopping list get the parts and pay him to do it the way we know work:thumbup:

I was thinking the exact same thing Gerrit. But; lets talk more at the track; i'll write down what i'm confused about.

Furthermore - i did some more work over the weekend. I found a perfect place for the boost gauge; i fitted it into the r/side airvent. It fits perfectly & looks awesome. I also mounted the intercooler; i had to get my grinder out & do some cutting but it looks good now. i just need to fabricate some brackets so i can secure the bottom of it.

But; that's about it for a while now. Need to so some renovations at home so that's going to keep me occupied for a month or so.

eish. okay.

a buddy of mine was trying to get the software right for a big turbo install of a polo tdi. too much surge, broke the shaft, exhaust turbine exited the downpipe through the wall of the elbow where it turns toward the rear of the car. intercooler full of oil. nasty.

As with this installation - you can hear the BoV, but still generates flutter... It is all about balancing things...

Going without BoV is merely a suggestion to consider all alternatives (pro's and con's), I am not pushing anyone in any direction... personally I am running a re circulation BoV - even though I have MAP based ECU with only uprated main injectors, no extra injectors... I don't care too much about sound - I think there will be enough
