Alfa Romeo GTV 3.0v6 24v

So i took the GTV to ODI...

Decided to put the GTV on the line this weekend at the ST 1/4mile and 1km runs...
916 GTV 3.0 with decat, and 18"rims (2kg per rim heavier than stock)

There was much less traction than i thought, span too much didn't get a proper launch,

Results non the less:

1/4mile: 15.3 @152kmh
1km: 199km/h

So Hennie & Corrie what did your 3.2's run again??

For reference, CAR magazine 1km tests (sea level):

Focus ST (pre-facelift) 188,6 kmh
Mazda 3 MPS (old shape) 197,1 kmh (doubt it modded ones couldn't run that this day)
Renault Megane R26 F1: 190,5 kmh
Subaru WRX 2.5:187,4 kmh
VW Golf 5 R32: 189,1 kmh
Civic Type R: 189,5 kmh
Mini Cooper S clubman: 178,6 kmh
Opel Corsa OPC: 183,7 kmh
Renault Clio Sport: 185,12 kmh
Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.8t: 185,7 kmh
Golf 6 GTi 196,2 kmh (one there ran 197kmh)

ODI:

Alfa 116 GTV 2L: 19.0 @ 111 kmh and 143 kmh
BMW e46 330i (exhaust + unknown mods??): 15.6@148km/h and 194 km/h
Audi RS2(exhaust): 14,5 @154 kmh and 205 kmh
Seat Leon CUPRA (Stage 2 with wmi): 14,2 @176 kmh and 231 kmh
Focus RS (exhaust, intake, FMI, injectors, Software) 14,2 @ 178 kmh and 229 kmh
Opel Astra OPC (Software 230whp): 15,7 @ 154 kmh and 193 kmh
Focus ST Facelift (fully worked stock turbo no gas) 14,2 @ 169 kmh and 221 kmh
Opel Astra TS (fully worked) 1km: 262 kmh

Will post Youtube links now!

Nice run, Niwou! I would love to see this at the coast! Maybe we can get a certain black 3.2 GTV to do a quartermile down here?

E4R, thanx but this wasn't me. I'm Niwou.
This was my baby brother Rörich aka N2Oxide.

He really surprised a few okes and did some good Alfa Romeo brand promotion
Even a few of our friends driving various other brands were surprised.
Next time I'll take the 164!

If you'll sponsor the driveshafts?

Next time there's a quartermile at Killarney Sarel has to let me know. I'd like to see what she'll do. I don't even know how to launch properly!

[QUOTE) So Hennie & Corrie what did your 3.2's run again??[/QUOTE]

You did great!!

We ran 15.7/15.6 sec, 143km/h at Smiles with the std, decatted 3.2s
With the mild cams I did a 15.3 sec at 142km/h

Your GTV is very strong for a 3 ltr, I drove behind you to Zwartkop.

Don't they give you times for the km run as well? The great thing about the km times (speeds) is you can compare your car with all the cars CAR magazine has tested at sea level. They tend to concentrate on the time not the speed.

For instance a car with 100W/kg doing 30 sec 1 km run is a nice drive.
With 120W/kg and 27/8 sec km run it becomes a great toy.
And 180W/kg and less than 25 sec km run, you will be with the exotics.

Your exit speed is a little low!
But my friend who go to Smile often also complain about the same thing there.
Time are a difficult one as traction is a big stumpling block.
On the 156 2.5 we managed a best of 15.7 @139km/h, but with much better traction.

Is that the goal for 2014? Haha
Your Gtv is almost as bad as my 164 and Marc's RX-7.

Poor fella is on 150 000km now... Needs to go for cambelt - Developed massive play on the right CV now too after hitting a construction seam on the highway So a monetary winter is upon me

When's the 164 going to rip some holes in the universe?!

3.0 GTV's are VERY quick. Mine used to kill 3.2 GT's. It was really a fun car to own!

Yes the speed is effected by the traction during loanch. If the traction is good, the speed pick-up much quicker resulting in higher exit speed. See the higher exit speed of the older sprint time which is slower.

Too illustrate the importance of loanch, with the turbo 145 we did a 15.5 @ 156 km/h starting slow with a ruined clutch. Cuzz did a 14.7 @ 155 km/h by starting slow and saving the clutch. But the high exit speed show the power of the cars even with a slow starts.
