Front Cat is overheating it glows up ,it gets so hot the heat can be felt on the leather covering the gear stick, took cat off and there is no loose bits, what could be the issue?car also has a slow response when putting the pedal down almost as if its retarded by like in between a split second to a second.any Ideas?

Is this now the FIRE GTV 3.0?

You took it out somme leave it out, you won't be sorry! CATS, just like the 4 legged stuff, have a shelf life that has an expiry date. I think yours has reached that date.

Did you remove the cats inside like I suggested?
You said the car is misfiring.
Like I said before a cylinder dumping its fuel unburned will result in an overheating cat.
With the cat removed is the response still slow?
Make sure that the plug on the butterfly is properly located and the loom supported so that its not hanging on the plug.

Did you disconnect the injector wires one by one to establish which cylinders not running properly?

they changed the coil pack and the misfiring went away, but i dont understand how the car got sent away for redoing the clutch and all of a sudden the coil pack gives in and the cat overheats.

The coil is easy to understand if they washed the motor.
That’s why I do not wash motors unnecessarily.
Why they let the car go out like that I do not know.
The dead coil definitely caused the flaming cat.
Is the cat out??

they didnt wash the motor, the cat is not out but they did take it off to see if there is anything loose in there that could cause it to block and overheat, but there was nothing.

Take the cat out before you burn your valves.

Not the cause here, but filling stations sometimes pump over their LRP to their unleaded tanks when the unleaded runs out. Surely that is also not good for cats.

okay so last nyt was driving the car hard to get the heat up,and the cat is not glowing anymore, still feel some heat on the leather covering the gearstick, also noticed that when i put in first and take foot off clutch, the car drives then jerks softly then drives then again jerk softly almost as if the injectors cut and then squirt...cut then squirt again, also on idle the car shakes/vibrates which never did that before.and lastly im noticing a gas smell of like burnt gun powder.

I took my cat out a week after buying my car, there was an improvement on performance and sounds better, but you can buy mine if you want, I presume its still working fine

Orange removing the cat will have no I repeat no negative influence on the management.
With the extreme heat you had before the matrix in the cat melts (for lack of a better word) causing a obstruction which will cause a lack of performance and a lot of other symptoms in the end resulting in head damage and probable manifold damage as well.
Before you remove it we can not advise on the other symptoms.

Just unbolt the cat. Take a hammer and long chisel or anything ells you have lying around and break the matrix out of the cat. With that done put the empty shell back. The car will be a bit more vocal with a bit of a metallic sound from +/- 3000rpm and a lot more power.

Disconnect the battery for 45m or longer, reconnect the battery, switch the car on (don’t start just switched on) for 40secondes, switch the car off for 40seconds and then start the car and let it idle for 15m after which you take it out for a spirited drive. This will reset the learning curve and allow the ecu to learn new habits.
