Alfa 3.2 clutch replacement

I took my GT into Atlantis Motors on Friday 2nd March for a clutch replacement. I provided a genuine 3.2 GTA clutch to be fitted as specified. I still have not received the vehicle back. The last I heard was last Wednesday when I was told they were re-fitting the gearbox (sent by a text message)

I am assuming I have rights under CPA. Obviously the car will not be fit to drive.

Nothing else needed doing. They have their own system of client agreement to work undertaken. I already have my cost.

I've always been very happy with them, they did an engine out job on my 159 when they replaced the steering pump, I think the bill was for 11 hours labour. They also did a clutch kit replacement and a cambelt replacement on a Fiat Bravo T-jet I had and they serviced my wife's old Mito. They did some pretty big jobs for me and none of the cars gave even so much as a stitch of problems afterward. So I wouldn't be worried about how your car will perform after they're done cause they're pretty competent.

I would call them and ask to speak to the workshop manager, and just ask him if he would prioritise your job and keep you personally informed of the progress. Try being gentle first and stating your grievences politely, it gets you a lot further than yelling and threating them with the act which will just cause them to be even less helpful.

Honestly, they have taken a LONG time with your car and I would not have been so patient. At some point my GTV also had a cambelt service done for 3 weeks! But on the other hand, my clutch and diff was replaced (Q2) and gearbox housing repaired within a week. In the least, they were stalling with your car. They could have booked it in when they had space and time available.

New clutch in Nelspruit with AR took a week for a supposedly 9 hour job.

Ok, I did'nt tell the whole story, but clutch was main thing. I had been away in DRC the week before, and been travelling too long since beginning Feb. I had asked Larry at Atlantis to take as long as required. I had oil change, new coolant tank, clutch, master cyl, fluids etc etc done. Because I had not heard too much last week, I actually had time to collect thoughts on Saturday and put feet on ground,...and panicked!

Here's the good bit, as you all know it can be hard to get top quality work done, but Atlantis had not and still have not let me down to date. After plenty of phone messages left for me, the car was ready to pick up this afternoon, and the clutch feels a lot better than before, and even my driver's door is not creaking as before, (new strap I think). Have to agree with Zeff, they do exactly what you ask for, so long may it continue! They do things by the book, and properly. If only life was so easy in all other respects. Thanks Atlantis. Larry, Carla, and the anonymous techs in the service bay.

A fastidious Alfa driver has to be the worse breed, so I also congratulate them on putting up with me as well. The only thing I found so far, was driver's door console, with passenger electric window button not working, but the console was already mis-fitted before. And it was probably not seen to only because I gave the hurry up.

Feels wrong someone else working on your car

Best and easiest tell tail that a good job has been done is whether top starter bolt has been refitted

Good luck and if you need any help you know where we are (the other side of the world)

Ned

Thanks Ned, you know too well, these Alfa eccentrics.

Sometimes you wonder about your sanity. It feels like I am married to this GT. I missed it too much

I am very happy.
