TomTom Blue and Me price in SA

I called a few CMH delearships and they quoted me R9050 for the plug in TomTom gps for the Alfa dashboard socket. Seems a bit exorbitant for a software re-flashed version of the TomTom live1000 going for R2599 at Cape Union Mart!

Anyone know why it costs so much? From the Alfa delears in the UK it costs 302 pounds - which is around R3500, and that's a retail price! They wont ship to SA but I can arrange for a mate over there to post it to me.

But why should I have to go to all that trouble - the pricing is ridiculous man! Triple the retail price overseas? That's just taking the p!ss!

Ja, the dealers are just effing us. Some dealers in the UK have it at under 300pounds, so the SA price is just ridiculous. The only option as far as I see it, is to get it sent here from UK and try to dodge customs.

Customs duties are exempt for items under R7000 so I would only pay VAT, at current exchange rates that will be R4114 in total, with about R300 for shipping...guess I'm getting it from the UK then!! Still less than half price.

Called chatz the parts guy said R7900 ex vat.

Even at 6500k, it's still too expensive when you can get it from UK at 2.5k less.

yup true. maps might not work though and you cant get the normal live 1000 with the cradle cause that wont integrate at all. Maybe confirm that the SA maps are loaded before shipping one over.

The SA maps aren't loaded, they are R595 from TomTom online store.

Lol...Chatz

When I was at CMH Hatfield they said the thin costs R3500...

Call them up and ask them, and tell them about the different quoted figures and get them to agree to a low as possible figure as many dealerships can't be having the same product, on their system that I assume is the same for everyone else, and charge different prices.

I'm also assuming you already have the dock? I would suspect that if you don't have the dock it won't be R3500, but if you have th dock it will be R3500 as I was told.

2012 Giulietta QV Ghiacco White/carbon roof/Diamond Cut 18" Teledials/H&R sport springs/Supersprint turboback exhaust/BMC 76mm intake/FR&R software/272BHP-430Nm more development to follow!

I don't have the dock, otherwise I could buy a live 1000 from Kalahari or Cape Union Mart for R2500 and be done with it!

Another problem, speaking to Bradley, he's given a good price at R6100, but now I discover that's the old model, while the one for 300 pounds in the UK is the new Live2 model, which comes with new features, including live traffic and weather updates which is really handy. So not only is it twice the price, but its an outdated model!

Guess who's placing an order with The Only Official Alfa Romeo Accessories Site ?

Good stuff...let us know how it goes with the postage and vat and loading the SA maps...then we'll follow.

Have you placed the order yet? I wonder if we got a few people together that wanted one, if alfaaccessories would make an exception and ship to SA.

Rather get someone who usualy imports car related parts to do it for you, less trouble and usually a standard price.
