Hi Everyone.

Im fairly new to this forum. Been Noticing a tappet pinging noise while driving in traffic especially when engine is hot. The heat guage is on 90° to 95°

Its Ok on low revs but pinging starts as soon as I floor it a bit.*

When engine has cooled down, its fine no pinging especially in the mornings, only when engine is hot and when weather conditions are high ambient 30°C to 40°C .

Anyone experiencing the same or similar problem.

Could it be the oil i'm using pehaps (Motul. 8100 - 10W60)????

Without being able to listen to the engine, it becomes difficult to diagnose the sound as each knock/ping sound is distinctly different. It could therefore be any one of a number of possibilities:
Worn valve lifters bleeding down too quickly with hot oil.
Slipped cambelt or poor belt installation causing valve to piston contact although this would be present at all revs.
Worn variator.
Worn valve springs.
Worn cam lobe/s.

If the engine was recenty rebuilt then it could be the pistons contacting the head gasket if the incorrect gasket was used.

Please read here about the more common causes of knock: Sounds Like Trouble: A Quick Guide to Diagnosing Common Engine Noises - OnAllCylinders

I hope this helps a little.
