Well Happy A new 159 in Ireland

As of Friday morning there is 1 extra 159 driving around Ireland. It's a rare(I think so but am open to correction) '09 159 2.0 JTDM 170bhp Ti in black and it's all mine. Imported it from the UK a couple of weeks ago and paid the VRT of Friday(ouch)
Had 2 1.9 JTDM GT's over the past 5 years so I needed a change. And it just had to be a 159. I'm thrilled with it. The difference between the 2 cars is immense. The GT has an urgent crude feel in comparison. I was prepared for the difference in handling and feel but the improvement in quality is huge. There is no comparison between the 2 engines. I thought the 2.0 was just an enlarged, slightly more powerful version of the 1.9 but they are completely different engines. The 2.0 is so quiet and smooth it's been a revelation and the nearly the best part of the car. The looks win out.

Donal

The one and only disappointment is the Blue & Me, it's a pile of I had the parrot MKi9200 previously and it was great, I'm already looking at alternatives.

I agree on the engine Donal - I've driven the 2.0JTD and I think you'd be mad to buy the 1.9JTD when this is available, although cost (as it's a newer car) and availabilty are issues.

Hi Guys
Thanks for the comments. when I started to look at 159 a must have was the 2.0 engine. I'd previously tested a 1.9 Ti and was a bit underwhelmed by it. Not the 2.0 is significantly faster, it just seems to suit the 159 better. Very smooth and quiet, more like a petrol in the way it pulls. There is no great surge of power as there as with the 1.9 GT I had. As a result there are more gear changes needed, whereas with the GT you could be lazy with the gears. Anyway so far so good. Have been away a lot over the past 2 weeks so only getting a good stint in it this week. I'm hoping to have an idea on MPG by the end of the week.

The blue&me is still useless, it can't understand my lovely Dublin accent, call quality is disappointing and it insists on playing when I start the car despite me telling it not too.

Donal

Congrats on the new car Donalh. The 2.0 must make a huge difference. I had to get my 1.9 remapped to make it bearable! Health to drive.
