159 JTDM Efficiency

Hi lads, Im new here.

I bought a 07 159, over a year ago, and all is going good,
Apart from a very faint whining noise when the radio is off.
(Might be the turbo...not sure!)
Ive noticed lately im not getting great mileage from it: roughly 8.1l / 100km
Anybody else getting similar or better.
Also im looking for a recommendation for a good (affordable) Alfa mechanic in the South Dublin / North Wicklow area.

Hi McGilla...

that's pretty bad fuel consumption alright... that's like 34mpg... we've a 1.9JTDm and it's kinda around the 42/44mpg mark...

Are you noticing lots of soot from the exhaust? Or 'juddery' power delivery?

Hi Robbie, welcome to the site, Dave pretty much covered it all there, if you're looking for a mechanic in that area the best place to go would be TI Autos on Cowper Street in Stoneybatter.

The car actually drives perfectly, apart from the fuel consumption.
Ill check the forum for fuel efficiency info, just out of interest, how often would you get it serviced?

I might just drop it into TI motors for a pre NCT and service.

I have a 159 1.9ttdm 16v. Tyres are 235 45 r18. On a nice long motorway run, I average about 45mpg which im quite pleased with. Your fuel consumption does seem a little high.

It could just be a good service that it needs...
