Keep or sell?

Hi
I am moving to the US for a year with my job, should I sell my 1.8 156 Ti? Its an 05 has 134000kms and is in reasonable condition, nct 2013. I love it and its by far, in my opinion, the nicest driver I have ever had. I would throw a tarp over the car and keep it but my missus is wagging the finger at me to cash in on what its worth.

In the back of my mind I keep thinking I could buy a project car when I get there or wipe out a bill or too, even put the money towards a Brera when I get back.

What do you lads think its worth?

I will throw some pics up.

Depends what it is worth to you. If you will regret selling it then keep it, if not sell it and save the money you've made

Yeah its hard to decide, like I said I love it. This year I brought it to France on holiday, its full of great memories but I also have to face reality that it will be sitting in my garden losing money. Plus all the problems that comes along with that.

I am guessing its worth around 4.5k but is that wishfull thinking?

don't sell it, give it to somebody to start it twice a month or so, and drive around (car park, yard) for 20-30 minutes so the engine gets up to proper temperature, the battery doesn't get flat, all the pipes getting lubricated and no flat spot on the tire.

After a year of no driving be prepared to replace all rubber hoses, bushes, tyres & belt. Another option would to let some-one you trust here in Irleand to drive it from time to time.

Wow, that's a beauty mate. Unless you really want a Brera, I'd be inclined to hold onto it - you don't see too many Ti's around and it's not a good time to sell. I know that SimonDublin is looking for a 156/159 at the moment, so I'm sure he'd be interested if you really want to sell.

+1 on this. I'd say the lad in question would take it for the odd spin for you as well.

according to the news this morning there is upto 300 people leaving Intel Leixlip to head to the USA, so if you are going to sell get ahead of the rush.

Deadly pics on your add there Rikd. Food for thought.

I have decided my deadline is tomorrow night to decide.

I have to take it for a good 120km spin tomorrow, that should help.

Keep it, sounds like you have enough sentimental value to warrant storage for a year. Good luck in the states BTW.

I tend to agree with the majority on here and keep it if you can

I still miss my 156 and it was no where as nice as yours. Thats a beauty and rare and if you can hang onto it, then do so.

If I had the dosh and room, I'd certainly be interested just to get me back driving an alfa again

I took a good long time agonising over whether to sell or keep. I did a long drive yesterday, got off the motorway and did the twisty roads that the Alfa is really the best at. It was great fun as usual but when it comes down to it I am going to sell. I think that money in the bank is the most sensable way to go. Plus there is a good chance my year trip will be extended and I dont want to be worried about what shape it will be in when I eventually get home.

So the call goes out, anyone on here will get first preference before the car goes up on Autotrader.

BTW my brother in law said he would look after it for me if I put him on my insurance as a name driver... bloody chancer.

PM me for my email address all interested.
