My 166 is gone :(
Yesterday evening my 166 was smashed by scoda octavia , whole passenger side is destroyed , It looks like front and back suspension is gone aswell. Guy in garage told me that form the first look he can say that car will be written off Question is what money should I accept ? How to valuate a car which is nearly impossible to buy here ? Its 166 FL 2004r 2.0TS with All extras ,around 1000e spent recently on the engine at TI autos , 4 new tires . And more important question where I can buy another one !!! I dont want crappy BMW or Audi I want 166
Please Help

Firstly, glad you are ok.
Secondly, Its a sad day that another 166 is off the road. Hopefully its parts can keep others alive (kinda like the ordan donor scheme).
Thirdly, fight the Insurers. Go on Carzone, donedeal, gumtree, adverts and take snapshots of all the cars on sale. You will need proof of similar cars on sale, dont forget, in a months time, there may be ones that are no longer advertised, get them now. Get your receipts together to show that it was in excellant condition and make sure to have the NCT cert too, this is worth money to them.
They will low ball you, but with proof of current cars advertised, receipts for work carried out and they may even accept UK car prices with VRT on top as proof that they are worth money. It wont be what you want, but it wont be the shockingly low price they will start with.
If you have the room, check with them how much they are selling the salvage for you, you might be suprised how cheap they are selling to the breakers and you can make a few bob breaking it yourself.

Thanks guys I'm fully ok because I wasn't even in the car. I went with my girlfriend for a nice day in phoenix park and moron destroyed my precious Alfa while we where in the Zoo . When I came back there was no one around and only my car destroyed You can imagine my shock. Luckily there was Gardai driving few cars behind this moron so they stopped and took care about everything finally they Just left me a note on the windscreen and left . Luckly there is no problem with liability so today I've got replacement car 2011 Opel Insignia - Jesus how bad this car is, It not deserves even to be parked next to 166 .
I'm thinking about this 166 in Waterford but first I want to see how much money they will propose . Other option is buying 159 but even though it is a lovely car I would prefer to stick with 166

Ok you were haunted the Garda was there , usually these guys leave a note to say " I hit your car" but leave nothing else .. I only put that 166 up as its a facelift and you might get some idea of what yours is worth . Hopefully they wont haggle and give you the price . Make sure you list all the Kit eg Dsp etc that was an extra ..

Sad to hear about your 166, but you are very lucky that the gardai were witness to it!
Another option with your insurers is to get the settlement amount for the write off, and then buy it back off them as salvage. Ask them what their salvage price is.
Then you have some options like selling parts/or complete for parts, or using your claim money to get it repaired if it can be, and you know it's a good car.

1. sorry to hear about your car be badly damaged.
2. Glad no-one was hurt.
3. Buy the car back form the Insurance Co. & flog it for parts or 'As Crashed/Reapirable' on donedeal. You'd be surprised the interest it'd generate. I'm assuming you have the extra space to keep it for a few weeks/months

Wow, sorry to hear that. I can't imagine wandering back to your parked car and finding it in that state.
I see you are in Kildare, I don't recall seeing your car on the road at all.
I know of a 2.5V6 for sale in Dublin, if you are interested send me a PM.
Glad you are okay though.

Shame to see a car ending it's career in such a fashion, but at least it was just the car, and no injuries to anybody. You were lucky the gards were on hand at the time.
I'm gonna throw together an advert for my 166 hopefully at the weekend, I'm just not using it anymore so somebody else might as well get some pleasure from it.
It's a 2001 2.5V6 in Aurora Blue, black leather, Xenons, rear sun-blind, 114k miles, t-belt job, plugs, full service, susp overhaul all done 16000mls. ago. New clutch and brakes all round done 20k miles ago. NCT'd until March 2013. So all the big jobs are done, just needs somebody who has time to use it and enjoy it.
EDIT; this pic gives an idea of the colour, it's not a great pic, being a bit dark, but it gives the general idea....
