Job descriptions
If you are a recruitment agent and even more so if you are an employer, kindly ensure that your advertised job description does at least vaguely match the position that you are recruiting for. Coming up with an entirely different job description at interview wastes everybody's time and money. (One employer and one agency guilty of this in the last week, for two separate jobs).

Also those that waste your time. I had an interview the other month, where they seemed desperate to get me in even though I lacked some of the skills. As such I bust a gut to get there one evening after work, bearing in mind I work in London and this was Kings Hill in Kent, so a train Journey and then drive both in peak time. OK maybe they decided I didn't fit, but given the effort I put in to get to them on a days notice a courtesy call would have been nice. But I had nothing from either the recruitment agency or the company

"No experience necessary" or "Career changer welcome" then at the end "5 years relevant experience essential"
I can't win no matter where I go or what I do. I might go to Tibet and become a monk

Applied for one once :
Job description : trainee sales manager wanted
Turned out they wanted you to sell novelty goods door to door, and if you turned out any good they would move you up to a supervisor position they had a waiting room for the candidates.

Potential EMPLOYEES are a nightmare too. If you come for an interview and are then offered the position don't email back in 3 three days times stating you won't be accepting!
Bloody time wasters

Better than accepting immediately and then resigning two days later because you've been offered a better alternative.

I had that a while back with a new apprentice.
Another employee lasted three days and walked out the door without saying a word.

TBH I have more of an issue with recruiting agencies, bloomin box tickers ! that's another thread though
If a job is advertised as one thing but turns out to be something completely different you can't blame new employees for getting on their toes if they get another offer.

I got sent a job spec once it just said, Server, Networking and Visualization.
I emailed the guy back and told him it was way too vague but thanks anyway.
He then calls me saying its a really good job and though he cant actually tell me anything about it...
I stopped him right there and said Why are you wasting my time, you have a job you cant tell me about but you want me to spend time talking to you on the phone and then book a day off to go meet some people who can tell me about the job on the off chance that I may be interested, I said I dont care what the job is I dont work like that.
He proceeded by saying on second thought I dont think you are appropriate for the role, at which point I just hung up.
ARGH!!! seriously they just want their pay day, and dont give a rats arse about the people they are trying to stitch up.

I hate agencies over inflating a salary. Went for a job at 30-35k, which would have been a rise, did a 1st interview and was invited back for a second. Discussed salary at 2nd interview as travelling costs where going to be high (2 mile commute to 30 miles each way) and was told the agency had been told 25k, so same as current salary!! This is the same agency the advertised a job where I work at 5k over the budget (and I know this as I raised the requisition for the agency cost)

What bugs me is that the number who don't put "if you don't hear within x days or by x.x.x then you are unsuccessful" and then don't have the decency to respond to e-mails or phone calls... Only 2 agencies have bothered so far - 1 phoned me within half an hour and the other e-mailed back the next day.
Oh and then there was the one who said they had a great job in Malta lined up, expenses paid and everything... We'll put the information in an e-mail... Still waiting 6 months later!
