I used to work in the same building as a well know kids TV channel, we ran the phone system and the CD player that played the hold music was with our servers. I only just managed to resist the temptation of changing the CD for some Slayer or similar

It's actually something to do with performance rights.

If you use real music as hold/musac you have to pay for a licence.

Just pay the licence!!!!

If I'm waiting to join a conf call and the organiser isn't on the line, then I might just want to get on with other things - such as work (or whoring on the internet).
If I want to listen to music, I'll plug headphones into my laptop and do that.
