single lane country roads

Why is it whenever you seem to meet a 4x4 coming the other way on one of these roads they are still very unwilling to go even slightly off road,on the grass verge, to aid others in passing in the opposite direction??? It's a 4x4 off roader for god sake!!! Take the bloody thing off the road for once in it's life at least!!!!!!
Either that or buy a smaller car for f*** sake...
