EA Servers

I'm mightily hacked off with EA Sports because I can't seem to get online to play Fifa 11 very often. The EA servers seem to be unavailable.

Funnily enough this problem seemed to commence pretty much from the point that Fifa 12 became available in the shops or download. I understand many people on forums etc. have connected the two incidents and deduced a conspiracy by the corporation.

I hesitate to support that because I know some people who have had problems on Fifa 12, but all I know is that Fifa 11 is pretty much dead to me now as an online game experience.

Sooner or later I expect I would purchase 12 on the chance that the problem is resolved - or give up playing footy on the xbox.

I've complained to easports and expect a corporate bs response which moves me on not one jot.

I've always had issues with the Tiger Wood games.

Never, ever had a response from the e-mails I've sent - apart from the usual, 'We have received your message and someone will be in touch soon. PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL'

That was two years ago. Given up getting just have to now.

I didn't realise you could ping the servers from a games console? I thought they used separate servers for PC, PS3 and M$ EggBox?

what's all this pinging nonsense. TELL ME HOW!!!! I demand it.

by the way, here's the response I got from EA:

"I would like to inform you that you need to check whether your firewall is off, your anti virus firewall, check your system ports whether they are properly opened. Our servers are under maintainance on sunday so there may be some connectivity issues on sunday otherwise the servers are running so fine."

Now, I've had FIFA in various guises for several years now...........why would by firewall suddenly be and issue, same for ports?

Open up the Command prompt and type (or just copy and paste):

ping 213.163.80.170

ping 188.122.67.146

I believe these are European EA servers and you should be looking for an average ping time of between 50 - 70 ms (as an example, when playing CoD on the Box of X (™ SiF) I get about 65-70ms ping time but when playing the same game on the PS3 I get between 50 - 60 ms. Both playing with little to no lag).

However, like I said in a previous post, I don't know exactly which servers these are. They could be for the EggBox £3.60, the PS3 or the PC.

cheers

what I did this morning (3:30 am boredom issue - whodda thunk it) was change my xbox to a static IP address

dunno if that's gonna fix the issue - but I tried to connect to EA before the change and it didn't, afterwards it did.

Might be a coinkeedink but I'll keep an eye on it over the weekend
