Woman: Lots of Multitasking ...
... but nothing gets finished ...
It was quite a nice day yesterday, so when I got home from work the missus suggested (ordered) that we should go out and have a crack at the garden (neither of us are particularly keen gardeners ...)
So I start sorting out Shed #1 that contains the kids toys, whilst she sweeps the patio/decking ... I get a shout after about 5 mins "Chris how do you do this bit?" ... so I explain what needs to be done, to which the response is "well can you do it while I get on with the strimming" ... so I go and get the strimmer out for her ...
... I've just finished doing the patio when I get a call "Chris the strimmer is broken", so I go and fix the strimmer, to which the response "well can you just finish this whilst I get on with Mowing the lawn" ... so I go and get the lawn mower out for her ...
... I've just finished the strimming when I get a call "Chris can you finish off the lawn, so I can weed the kids play area" ... ok I say ...
... I've just finished the lawn when I get a call "Chris can you help me with the weeding because my gloves are too thin and I can't pull up there prickly ones" ... so I go and finish off the weeding.
... after dinner I'm putting the kids to bed when I get a call "Chris can you help me with mowing the front lawn, I can't do it", so after I've got the kids to bed I go out and finish mowing the lawn, whilst the missus is sweeping the driveway ...
... just as I've finished mowing the lawn I get a call "Chris can you finish sweeping the driveway so I can go in and tidy the house ...
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ...

Re: Woman: Lots of Multitasking ...
I get asked to finish making coffee at least 4 times a day as the better half has decided to start something else. It makes me laugh that men are generally told that we cant multi-task when its us who have to finish everything.

Re: Woman: Lots of Multitasking ...
I have a solution though ... be incompetent (in their eye's anyway) ...
... the washing ... right it's not hard, take the washing out of the dirty washing basket put it into the washing machine (sorted into colour whites), once done place some in the tumble drier and hang some up to dry ...
easy yes?
no.
When trying to "help" I go into the utility room, and survey the scene, various piles of washing, so I take a best guess at what is clean and what is dirty (the best guess is always wrong) ...
... sort the washing into colours/whites ... however not all whites are "white" and not all colour are "colours" (rules for which are undefined)
... then, empty the washed load and transfer the clean clothes to either the tumble dryer or the hang it up, the rules for what goes where is constantly changing, when I ask what the rules are the response is usually "you wouldn't understand ..."
... then hang up the clothes in a way that they "won't dry"
I'm not allowed to do the washing anymore

Re: Woman: Lots of Multitasking ...
I too have experienced the "well it won't dry like that!" syndrome when I've tried to help by hanging washing out....
My responce of "S'funny that - cos it dries like that fine when your not here" got met with a less than enthusiastic responce

Re: Woman: Lots of Multitasking ...
I am deliberately bad at everything. I'm useless at washing-up, doing the washing, hanging the washing, and cooking.
I'm actually perfectly able to do all of the above, but when I get asked to do it I mess it up and now very rarely get asked.
So I sit watching the TV whilst she does the work. She's happy it's being done properly, I'm happy that I'm not doing it.

Re: Woman: Lots of Multitasking ...
That must take years of practise to get that good ... I can't suddenly change overnight ... maybe the "washing" thing is the first step in the right direction

Re: Woman: Lots of Multitasking ...
You can do the age old 'mistake' - buy a nice pair of red socks and make sure you slip one in with the whites.
Next step... shrinking the woollens

I'm exactly the same
unless it's "can you go to the shop", because going to the shop from our new house involves a 10 min drive each way on some nice twisty country roads
Anything inside the house though, and she knows better than to ask me..........
unless she wants a half arsed job of everything being done that is
my idea of washing the few plates & glasses in the sink is putting them in the dishwasher and turning it on....
this horrifies her because "it's a waste of electricity".... ok then, i say, you can do it by hand

the irish country roads go round and round, round and round, round and round
........ AND I LOVE IT!
