Ah good job - if they hadnt have given in all you do is get the measurements from the highways act for measurments for parking bays and if they havent painted them to the exact specification they dont count

It is - there's no way they can enforce a parking ticket given to a car that doesn't exist!

Imagine the conversation;
Them: "Well, actually, it's meant to be a 'B'"
You: "Well, actually, I meant to park legally..."

That was my initial thought. So what if he believed it or not... it's either a case of it was or wasn't. There's no belief system involved. I wonder how many poor saps pay these types of fines.

In this particular instance it looks as if it's a ticket from a council run warden, and your rights are limited. However, if it's a privately run car-park you can quite legally tell them to f-off. It's got something to do with contract law, and the fine is disproportionate to the amount of lost revenue or something.
