I guess I'm fighting a losing battle here. As said on other threads the oil price is being pushed up by the fund managers, these price forecasts are giving them the perfect excuse. But like i say the bubble could well burst and more than likely will, when and how high will it reach is the question.

But to think that the government are just putting the price up because they can is a little naive don't you think? Lets not forget parts of europe pay more than us.

Symonh makes a good point though, if/when the price drops how long untill it drops on the forecourts?

you may read a few things on the internet but you have no idea on peoples skills at all.

If you are 21 as you say you are I am amazed that you are on these forums so frequently, most 21 yr olds are out socialising (ah yes lack of people skills etc)instead of handing out what on the most seems to be smart mouth ,smug attitude & a know all manner.

Some of the comments above that you have made makes me think that you should maybe go into careing or work at an advice centre as you think everyone has missed the point & you become exasperated at HAVING to put us all on the right track ....all this at 21

I believe it takes about 4-6 weeks to filter a price increase to the pumps so if what has happened this week with oil hitting $135+ we are in for more steep rises soon , plus I believe an increase in the gap between petrol and diesel will continue to widen. As for a decrease it would probably be around the same but local competition would influence this more than a rise (local forecourts would see a money making opportunity).
What is really needed is a complete overhaul of the fuel taxation system, scrap fuel VAT and the fuel duty escalator and introduce a fuel duty stabiliser, were if the oil price rises above a certain level the duty goes down to keep pump prises stable, and hit the oil companies with a wind fall tax until the price comes down to balance it out. The oil companies could afford it!

Tbh i have been spending too much time indoors lately, but then im a roofer by trade so maybe to much outdoors? I've now been there and done all the young mans crap. I've got my eyes set on the future, which means stay in with the gf, spend no money and be in the perfect position to take advantage of the property price fall

But you do seem to be "missing the point" the reason fuel has gone up is because oil has gone up. I suppose YOU know that though

Bio fuel please. More powaaar and its not going to make a hippy explode with anger (although im not 1% sure that its better for the environment..)
