Alarm going off in my neighbours' apartment...

Been going since yesterday evening.
So can't be battery operated.

Not a loud one, but high-pitched, fast and annoying.

Can't work out what it could be?
(Any ideas?)

They won't be here for a few months.
(Holiday home.)

It may get on my nerves.

Carbon Monoxide alarm?
Are you connected? If so, I might be worried about that.

Re: Alarm going off in my neighbours' apartment...

Just kick the door down, burst in there wearing loads of jumpers for protection, swing a frying pan around just in case, then batter the s**t out of any fecker that might be in there. Even if it's the owners,

Although on a slightly more serious note, can you not call the cops or something who should pop round and investigate?

Let's hope it's not one of these tedious, annoying, antisocial and completly counterproductive false alarms which indicate to the world and his chavette that the house is empty.

It's back!

I think it's a short on their phone line
causing the phone to continually "ring".

Re: Alarm going off in my neighbours' apartment...

As I understand it, French phone cable pairs have a tendency to become disconnected in the event of a short.

It's like stereo systems that break when they are played too loud. They just sort of disintegrate.

Trust me, any electric wiring or
plumbing has a tendency to disintegrate
in the south of France.

I guess it helps if they're not encouraged by an enraged expat with a lack-of-sleep-induced grudge and a pair of snips....

Re: Alarm going off in my neighbours' apartment...

Got their phone number from the building mangement co.

Talked to the old guy, told him what's up.
They've got no alarms or anything.

He said they recently cancelled their phoneline.
I reckon France Telecom is dicking with the line.

If it keeps going he's gonna pop down.

I'd think it would run out after 48 hours,
and I doubt it would then start up again
a week later.
