My gorgeous car hit by a bus!

Couldnt believe it, driving to Brighton on Bank holiday and a bus hits me on the side in London. I was in the second lane from the left and a double decker bus in the third lane coming up from behind me hits my rear offside passenger door by moving left to avoid a pedestrian island.
The driver told me that bus companies pay out wheather it was their fault or not!?? anyone have experience of this? is this true?

Im currently dealing with the bus and their insurance company at the mo'. Im not going to let them get away with this one. Anyway she told me the bus has cctv so it cant go wrong.

Ouch hope it's fixed up quickly and they pay.

Sorry to hear about this.. Is it just damage to the one panel?

These things happen, on the positive side at least you won't have to fund the repair and the damage looks as if it is confined to just the one panel(?)

Yeah the damage is just to that door luckily, there is also a bit on the drivers door, but its not dented, just paint scratched, so that can be taken out with a bit of hard polishing.

I know how you feel.. I hit some wildlife while doing about 50 mph.. smashed the front of my car up. and sent me off the road. all fixed now... but I shed a tear or two!

o and the bus companys normally just ay out, without any issues. sometimes without insurance getting involved. make sure you get like for like on the car replacement if you do through insurance. took my car 3 months to get back to me! I had a c1, not great for the street cred!!! hehe!

You should have a word with Rayq81, he's a boss of a bus company, maybe be able to give you some advice of their procedures.

The driver is wrong !! the driver will submit an accident form and you should contact your own insurance company, I have never heard of a company pay for damage without going through the insurance, treat it the same as you would if a car had hit you as im pretty sure the Bus company wont even discuss the matter (we are under strict instructions from our insurance company NOT to handle any insurance problems ourselves)....Not very positive i know but hope this helps you .

Cardiff Bus company has their insurance details filed at most police stations. Mate of mine got hit by a Cardiff Bus, went to the police as the bus didn't stop and they just copied him the insurance certificate.

hey James! yeah thanks for the ride in ya GTA ..oh how I wish I could own one! even just to admire in a garage! All I can do is look at photos of everyone else's on here!!

My car passed the MOT and engine is now silent on idle with the new variator.

I called my insurer last week, currently they are trying to obtain the video from the buses various cctv. So hopefully that will show everything!

Maybe you might get one in the future mate!? I bet the cameras will show everything but the accident but you you can but hope. Fingers crossed for ya matey. Let me no how you get on and dont take any crap from insurance companies
