Re: New Road Tax rules

Sounds like something might be done about it. 25 MPs, 18 of them Labour signing something or other to say they are worried. Its a good start

Re: New Road Tax rules

It looks like those of us that have Conservative MP's that took the time to write to them may have actually acheived something then.

David Cameron certainly seemed pretty keen on his response when I wrote to him.

I hope it does blow up in the governments face just like the 10p tax row.

Re: New Road Tax rules

Is it big-headed of me to note that the quotes from Conservative MPs in this story are almost word-for-word what I sent to Ann Winterton?

I also note that Angela Eagle has continued her underhanded lieing ways in her response to the article
I'm still awaiting a reply to my latest letter to her, in which I point out in detail the irrelevancy and immorality of their retrospective changes. I got a 'receiving attention' card earlier this week.

The good news for us is that the way the retrospective changes were brought in is absolutely perfect ammunition for opposition MPs, as the claims made for the reasoning behind it are clear and demonstrable lies. This means that we automatically get the other parties on our side.

Re: New Road Tax rules

I am quite confident that the government will have to do a U turn on this. It has the potential to cause people far more pain than the 10p income tax fiasco.

People have yet to fully realise the implications in exactly the same was as with the 10p issue, although they will when it hits their pockets.

On the surface of it that looks like a result but am I being stupid or missing somehing from the equation as the conclusion is

"A Conservative motion, calling for the government to abandon the planned VED increases, was defeated by 284 votes to 125 - a majority of 159. "

And its not an Alfa 159.

My 2000 built 166 regd in 2001 with go from roughly £210 to £435.

Now thats more than 100 percent increase and yet these prats insist inflation is low....Hows that?

Dead easy the indicators which are used to measure inflation are specially chosen so that even under the worst conditions they will never increase by more that 1 percent.

I hope I have missed something and hope someone will correct me.

You are not Bazza coz thats what most public officials do as they have a complete inabilty to think it through for themselves and once the real reaction sets in the bend and twist what they have said and then use the new information as their own.

Not that I am advocating anyone to break the law BUT if a prisoner needs an operation all stops are pulled so he gets the treatment .Now if an OAP need an operation they go in a queue....What have they left to lose...So my view is take out a useless politicain get the jail and get free personal care and the required medical treatment which prior to that act was unavailable..................farcical isn't it...............Yet that's whats going on.

And if it wasn't for all these OAP's doing their bit all those years ago we wouldn't be where we are today. They did the right thing but all the legislaters since then have eroded what they sought to achive. Its so farcical it is criminal.
Ps hope this is in the rant room .Rant

MP's may have defeated the motion in the commons, but wait until the general public start feeling the pinch. They won't be able to sell their cars as they will have lost value and will be forced to pay the higher tax to keep them.

Lord only knows what the fuel price will be like then as well. There will be some seriously unhappy people around.

And the government wonder why they are so unpopular. Its not rocket science.

If they ever had a touch

We are the most taxed, most watched, most controlled society of any western democracy. Yet we harbour criminals who use laws designed to protect the weak as a shield for their socially destructive activities. Meanwhile don't you dare overfill your dustbin

I just heard on the radio that record numbers of brits are emigrating from the UK. I wonder why that could possibly be?

Re: New Road Tax rules

I couldn't help snorting with laughter yesterday .. I got my phone bill ... printed on it was ..

"BT has cut its carbon emissions by 40% since 1967" - what a complete load of horse sh*t .. what pillock worked that out and with what degree of reality or precision - It sums up the pathetic lack of quality and intellectual honesty in our society.

Meanwhile back on message - this is a swinging tax increase not an environmentaly green policy.
