I've had a similar situation - don't let it "drive you mad" for too long. You either have the affair (and face the inevitable consequences) or you do everything you can to avoid being in her company. These things can eat away at you if you don't take "control".

my thoughts exactly. i'm not going to have an affair, full stop. (although by god i'd love to rattle her senseless). hell i don't even know if she even wants an affair, maybe she just likes the thought of flirting, i dunno. but avoiding her isn't really an option seeing as she's part of the "family fold" as it were. i also think some eyebrows would be raised if suddenly she & i stop talking to eachother and try to avoid eachother. we've also got on very well since long before the flirting began so it would be a bit sh*t to lose her as a friend. i think i'm gonna have to just ask her to cut down on the flirting and likewise for myself as well.

Won't be easy finding the "right time". Don't be surprised if you're met with denial - just the natural defense mechanism to embarassment/feelngs of guilt

You still don't sound particularly convinced tho' - are you enjoying the buzz too much? Fine, if you don't mind thinking about scenarios more than you should and having that "going through customs" pseudo guilt everytime you're all together in a social situation.

Perhaps I'm reading this wrong. You're a big boy (or so the medical mags say!) so should know what's acceptable and what's destructive

bang on the money again jedster. i can't deny that i do enjoy the "buzz" myself as she's a painfully attractive girl (well, woman - she's the same age as me) and i'm only human after all. i've also thought about the reaction when i ask her to cool it - possibly denial from her, leaving stupid old me thinking i've completely got the wrong end of the stick all along. the mind boggles. need to stop it all though before it reaches fever pitch. love the "going through customs" analogy btw, so true

if i succumbed to the charms of nursey then trust me, there'd be a massive broken furniture sale on ebay next week (the heat got well and truly turned up on that one again yesterday evening as well ). my mate yesterday came up with a really constructive idea - he owns a crash-pad in town and said i should get a high class hooker in there overnight and get it all out of my system
