Olympic Shooting Venue

The venue for the 2012 shooting events is under fire.

QS Week - 2012 shooting venue under fire

It seems to be kept fairly quite but they are possibly wasting nearly £25 million. This is just one of the Olympic sports. How much money is going to be wasted on the rest?

Re: Olympic Shooting Venue

Woolwich is kind of apt for firearms but I am confused Where can the British teams practise? This ludicrous Government has just about banned every type of gun there is

Re: Olympic Shooting Venue

I don't mind them spending £25mil on a permanent place - but for 6-8 day's its crazy

How come the government doesn't have to worry about the economical use of resources

Re: Olympic Shooting Venue

It's a complete ****-up, like the whole organising of the games will be. Our money will be poured into it, only for the projects to over-run (as is usual here -Wembly, Millenium Dome(?))...

... And as for the £25m then for it to be ripped down!!!

The money would be better off invested into training facilities, i.e. schools and lesuire amenities to help get kids into sports and show them a future in the sporting world.

... Breeeeathe

Re: Olympic Shooting Venue

Those poor people in London are going to have to really pay out for this one. And the chavs will have to buy more Lottery tickets.

I was in Athens for a conference a few years back, and going along the coastal tram route (which is a real Olympic-inspired benefit for that city BTW), you do get the impression that the locals now have one empty stadium between three of them.

Re: Olympic Shooting Venue

30+ Golds or so, the tally for our shooting disciplines? Absolutely frowned upon now as a sport by the majority!: Why? Video/screen re-enactment by criminal adolescents, who should be elsewhere,IMO.

Thank the Lord for Bisley, and sensible shooters, having the opportunity to maintain our prowess in this age-old sport.:

Er, I think it was more because of people getting shot, really. Like all those children who got shot by an adult.

London's gun crime I was referring to, rather than Michael Ryan, and the Dunblane incident. Or, Manchesters, Birminghams,Liverpools, Etc.:

So it was a screw-up. Doesn't change the principle.
