Hi all, new member and new alfa owner. so far have good and bad story of alfa 156. after much debating i decided to purchase a nice 156 2.0 tspark. a few days searching and thought i found a bargain. silver 98 model 156, cue meet owner and test drive..... seemed fine. handover cash drive home. next day drive to work then bang bang bang the engine started knocking really horribly. a call later and nice new alfa on back of tow truck to local garage. big end gone im told. call guy just bought from who said easily fixed... no show... no answer... guy vanished. car scrapped..... lesson learned... or not... decided i still want 156.. search some more, drive to manchester buy another one. same price but 2000 w plate. this one looks the mutts nuts, black, big spoiler looks awesome. test drive, seems fine.. buy... get home... still fine. 2 months later have replaced all discs and pads, top wishbones on front.... new power steering reservoir... now it drives like a dream. then new ice.... LOVE MY ALFA 156.... despite bad start decided that this is best car i have ever had. long live the Alfa....
thanks all. have now recieved smoked black side repeaters. think will look smooth on black 156.... i hope. installed new head unit and direct replacement speakers and sub. sounds awesome. i have a feeling this is going to end up costing loads....... ah well think the cars worth it. also got local garage(maclellans in loanhead) sourcing a nice shiny leather interior. definately a car that goes for the heart and not the head lol. hope to meet some alfa enthusiasts around edinburgh soon. thanks for the friendly welcome.
